Thousands Attend Concerts In The Park With DSB, Journey Tribute Band

Concerts in the Park began on Saturday with thousands of people who waited for hours to see the band DSB.

DSB is known as  America’s Favorite Tribute to Journey and has been highly revered by fans as the “next best thing” to Journey.

People from all over the Santa Clarita Valley arrived as early as 7 a.m. to see the popular band.

KHTS AM 1220 had an exclusive interview with the band and provided free face painting to the concert-goers.

Lead vocalist, Juan Del Castillo of San Diego has been performing in front of live audiences for more than 25 years.

“Juan’s vocal timbre, range, and fierce control have more recently drawn comparisons to former Journey frontman,” according to the DSB website. “With Juan’s astonishing vocal similarities, a band of world-class musicians, and Journey’s recent cultural relevance (The Sopranos, GLEE), DSB has taken the tribute world by storm, highly revered by fans as the “next best thing” to Journey.”Thousands Attend Concerts In The Park With DSB, Journey Tribute Band

Roger Cain is the lead guitarist for the band and has been playing the guitar since he was 12 years old.

“Cain has a degree from the prestigious Musician’s Institute of Technology as well as the L.A. Recording Workshop,” according to the band’s website. “He has either worked, performed, written or opened for various top caliber artists such as Lee Ann Womack, George Strait, Joe Nichols, Sara Darling, Michael Bolton, Aaron Neville, Mindy McCready, Air Supply, Eric Benet, Al Green, Firehouse, Erasure, Fine Young Cannibals, Jane’s Addiction, Deana Carter, LeAnn Rimes, Tracy Lawrence and Steve Dorff.”

Scotty Kormos, of Cleveland, plays the drums for the group. Kormos performs nearly 150 shows every year.

“His drumming has been heard on countless TV shows such as Beverly Hills 90210, Dawson’s Creek, Party of Five, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Rodney Show, the Elvis mini-series and countless cable movies,” according to the DSB website. “He now lives in Los Angeles, where for the last several years he has done numerous projects with Steve Dorff.”

play with various different artists and of course The Singing Bee,” according to the website.

Henry O’Neill was born near Washington D.C. and has been playing piano since he was three years old.

“In the past year, Henry has fully moved himself to Los Angeles life, working with Flying Pig Productions in Brea, CA as a studio artist,” according to the DSB website. “Using a vast array musical talents from piano and guitar to his smooth vocals, Henry has performed at iconic venues across the LA area, winning rounds at RNB Live, opened for both Pat Benatar and Foreigner, and just a few short months ago, performing on the 2011 “America’s Got Talent” Semi-Finals.”

The band kept the crowd of all ages dancing throughout the evening.

Sponsors of Concerts in the Park include SOS Entertainment, Snow Orthodontics and KHTS AM 1220 among several others.

The concert series is planned to continue for several more weeks with the next performer being Suzanne Harper on July 19.

In January, she enjoyed great success in Nashville where she competed as one of five finalists in the Texaco Country Showdown, taking second place out of more than 25,000 competitors nationwide.

The winners of the preliminary round of the Country Showdown for KHTS AM 1220 will compete at concerts in the Park.

One will move on to the next round at the Country Showdown state finals at Knott’s Berry Farm with a chance to move onto Regional and ultimately the National competition.

The winner of the National competition will receive $100,000 and a recording contract.
