Wed. Oct. 1: “Body Mind Wellness” fair at College of the Canyons Honor Grove from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The Body Mind Wellness fair will have a series of vendors talking about health, including mental health and meditation.

“It will be a place where students can find help,” said Linda Davies, executive director of the Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita Valley.

Fri. Oct. 3: The center is screening the documentary, “Miss Representation,” at the Savia Center in Newhall.

“The film exposes how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America,” according to the film’s website. “The film challenges the media’s limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself.”

Mon. Oct. 6: “Who do you love?” Presentation at College of the Canyons in room MENH 343 from 12:30 – 2 p.m.

This will be a follow-up seminar from the Body Mind Wellness fair that will focus on having healthy relationships.

“It will provide advice on how to spot signs that a relationship might not be healthy,” Davies said.

Sat. Oct. 11: The SCV of DVC “Purple Walk 5K” at College of the Canyons track and trails from 8 a.m. to noon.

“All proceeds from the Purple Walk of Strength will benefit programs available at the Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita Valley, which believes everyone deserves a life free of violence,” according to Santa Clarita Valley Domestic Violence Center officials. “Domestic Violence knows no boundaries, but can be overcome when communities comes together in support of intervention, prevention and education.”

Wed. Oct. 15: “How to Measure Success in our Relationships” workshop at the Savia center in Newhall from 6-7:30 p.m.

This workshop focuses on art expression.

“This workshop is using the art medium to define their own personal success,” said Davies.

All events welcome anyone in the community to attend.
