“We’re happy to open the doors to Dunkin’ Donuts’ very first Santa Clarita Valley restaurant and to provide the residents of Santa Clarita with the brand’s iconic offerings,” said franchisee Lars Ottosson, in a news release. “We’re confident that this location will be a go-to destination for local commuters and residents alike due to Dunkin’ Donuts’ fast and friendly service and high-quality baked goods, sandwiches and beverages.”

Sally and Adam Lieberman and their two children, Canyon High School sophomore Anna and  Emma, an eighth grade Sierra Vista Junior High School student, were first in line Wednesday morning. They arrived around 6 p.m. Tuesday night.

Sally and Adam Lieberman are originally from the east coast and have been waiting for a Dunkin’ Donuts in California for 20 years, Sally Lieberman said. Her father, who lives in Florida, would ship Dunkin’ Donuts old fashioned donuts to her when she had pregnancy cravings.

“We had been waiting, and waiting, and waiting, watching it be built,” Sally Lieberman said. “We we’re so excited and we had so much fun.”

The Lieberman’s were first in line for the drive-thru and the front door, scoring them free coffee for a year in the form of $700 worth of giftcards.

The first 100 guests received a Dunkin’ Donuts tote bag filled with gift cards, frisbees and drink tumblers. Dunkin’ Donuts’ mascot, Cuppy, greeted customers on the pink carpet.

“We’re thrilled that the opening of this new restaurant will commemorate our entry into the Santa Clarita Valley,” said Monica Apodaca,Senior Field Marketing Manager, Dunkin’ Brands, in a news release. “We believe Dunkin’ Donuts will receive a warm California welcome from both Santa Clarita residents and visitors.”

A $1,000 check was presented to the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita and $500 was presented to Golden Valley High School, said Mallory Schluter, a spokeswoman for Dunkin’ Donuts.

The new Dunkin’ Donuts is located at 27125 Sierra Highway in the city of Santa Clarita.

The new Santa Clarita franchise will be operated by Good Treats, LLC, led by Johnny Andersen and Lars Ottosson, according to a news release. The franchise group has plans to develop 14 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants throughout Glendale, Burbank and the Santa Clarita Valley over the coming years.

  1. Thanks Jessica! Great article as usual.

No apostrophe for “[t]he Lieberman’s were first in line”, it is a plural of “Lieberman”.

  3. Correction: This is not the first Dunkin Donuts in Santa Clarita. There used to be one on Lyons Ave at the location that is now Daylight Donuts.
