The Santa Clarita Valley Bar Association, announced a special Law Appreciation Day program put on by the Bar Association and co-sponsored by Santa Clarita Chamber of Commerce, the City of Santa Clarita, the Los Angeles County District Attorney and Sheriff offices, and the California Highway Patrol.
The Santa Clarita Valley’s first annual Law Appreciation Day will take place on October 3, 2005, which coincides with the first day of the U. S. Supreme Court’s 2005 – 2006 term. Law Appreciation Day will be celebrated with a luncheon to give elected officials, law enforcement, and community leaders an opportunity to recognize and honor citizens of the Santa Clarita Valley who have demonstrated excellence in the performance of their duties and those who have made significant contributions to the community during the past year.
John Boston, the prize winning columnist and Editor of The Signal newspaper as well as the recognized historian of the Santa Clarita Valley, will be the Master of Ceremonies and will give a brief history of law in the Valley. The award presenters include County Supervisor Michael Antonovich, Mayor Cameron Smyth, L.A. County District Attorney Steven Cooley, L.A. County Sheriff Lee Baca, California Highway Patrol Captain Ellen Conley, an official of the Chamber of Commerce, and Bill Lively, who is President-Elect of the Santa Clarita Valley Bar Association.
This special event was inspired by the newly formed Santa Clarita Valley Bar Association, a non-profit corporation, as part of its mission of public service to keep the public informed of important legal issues and how to efficiently connect with attorneys when the need arises, to participate in programs that promote positive interaction between the community’s youth and the legal system, and to recognize individuals who have made a significant contribution to the Santa Clarita Valley with events as such as Law Appreciation Day.
The celebration will take place at the Santa Clarita Valley Sports Complex located at 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway in Santa Clarita from noon to 1:30 p.m. Lunch will be catered by Marie Callendar’s Restaurant. Tickets cost only $25.00 and can be purchased by contacting the Bar Association via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. Table sponsorships are also available.
