Santa Clarita Mayor Laurene Weste joined representatives from Senator Steve Knight and Senator Michael Antonovich’s office in front of the KHTS Radio kiosk at the Valencia Mall Thursday afternoon for a GraceFest SCV press conference.

Event headliners, Building 429, were recently nominated for their sixth studio album, “We Won’t Be Shaken,” said Barry McKeever, KHTS host of The Rock, during the conference.

Manafest, whose album “Fighter” debuted in the iTunes Top 20 Rock album chart, will be the opening act.

GraceFest SCV will offer food, authors and vendors, which will all be announced through the events Facebook as they are confirmed, said committee member Krista James.

The Kids Charities of Santa Clarita Valley is presenting GraceFest SCV, and the event will benefit four local charities, so far these include Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita and SCV Pregnancy Center, James said.

The event hopes to include participation from all of Santa Clarita’s churches, said Lisa Pritchard, with the events church public relations.

“We need prayer teams,” Pritchard said. “If they can’t support in any other way, prayer is the best.”

Pritchard has attended previous GraceFest events in the Antelope Valley and said it is a unique music festival in that families can comfortably attend without coming across drugs.

“Everyone comes together as one body, we celebrate as one body,” Pritchard said. “It’s phenomenal.”

GraceFest originated in the Antelope Valley eight years ago. While continueing in the Antelope Valley, it is extending to Santa Clarita this year for the first time.

The event will have a youth area, where children can enjoy sketches, skits, games, crafts, and a separate kids stage that will feature singer songwriters, who have not yet been names, said Rocky Whatule, representing The Sanctuary Church at the event and is an account executive at KHTS Radio.

“It’s a very safe place where parents can leave their kids,” Whatule said.

GraceFest SCV will take place from 1 – 9 p.m. at Central Park in Santa Clarita.

Tickets are available Feb. 14 at 12:01 a.m. All tickets are $10 for the first 10 days they are on sale, after that advance tickets are $15 per person or $20 at the gate. Ages 10 and under are free and ages 11-19 will be $10. All tickets are general admission and apply to all seating areas in the venue.
