Grant Writing Panel Discussion To Be Hosted Next Month

Next month, the city of Santa Clarita is planning to host a panel discussion focused on how to write successful grants for organizations and nonprofits in Santa Clarita.

The New Heights Panel Discussion: The Nuts and Bolts of Effective Grant Writing, will be held on Wednesday, July 12 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Centre, located at 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway.  

Panelists Murray Wood and Charles Flowers will share tips and techniques to help grant writers navigate their way through the grant proposal process. The event is free and no RSVP is required to attend.

The panel discussion is open to and is highly recommended for arts organizations and nonprofit organizations. Wood and Flowers will give advice on how to write proposals that are aligned with client goals, illustrate ways to present accurate budget details, and will share their favorite useful resources.  

Additionally, participants will learn effective ways to match their organizations needs and goals with appropriate funding sources.

Murray Wood has been Chief Development Officer for the College of the Canyons Foundation for more than nine years. He has more than 30 years of experience as a nonprofit organizational executive and during his career has raised a combined total of more than $127 million dollars for the organizations where he served.

Charles Flowers serves as Deputy Director of Arts for LA, the regional arts advocacy organization serving Los Angeles County. He has served as Associate Director of the Academy of American Poets, Executive Director of the Lambda Literary Foundation, and as Deputy Development Director at the ACLU of Southern California.

New Heights is presented by the Santa Clarita City Council and the Santa Clarita Arts Commission.

The panel discussion series is designed to assist artists, performers and arts organization representatives in expanding their knowledge and learning valuable tools to increase their ability to be successful.  A complete listing of the New Heights series, discussions and lectures is available here.
