Ground Hog Job Shadow Day Set For Santa Clarita Schools

Remember the first time an adult opened your eyes to a career that made you think, “that’s what I want to do!” Now you can provide the same opportunity to a local high school student by participating in the 8th Annual National Groundhog Job Shadow Day on February 2, 2005.

Hosted by the SCV School & Business Alliance, Job Shadowing is a half-day event designed to give students the chance to “shadow” a workplace mentor as he or she goes through a day on the job. It inspires students to be enthusiastic about their studies by showing them the correlation between what they learn in school and how it is used in the workplace. For employers, Job Shadowing offeres both an introduction to the workforce of tomorrow and the opportunity to help students explore career options — and share what it takes to achieve their goals.

The Alliance will pair you up with a student(s) specifically interested in your career or industry. It’s simple to get involved. Just call (661)259-0033 x776 or email akerman@hartdistrict.org. Your future workforce looks forward to meeting you.
