Healthy Santa Clarita Visits Senior Center

The City of Santa Clarita’s Healthy Santa Clarita program is on the move again, holding a special Healthy Santa Clarita seminar this Thursday, August 18, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Newhall Senior Center located at 22900 Market Street, Newhall.

Mayor Cameron Smyth, Fitness Enthusiast Joanne Wabisca, HopSports athletic trainers, Whole Foods representative Tina Landrum, and local Nutritionist Tami Hulcher, will speak to the senior community regarding health, nutrition, exercise, and efficient ways to maintain strong bones.

“Healthy Santa Clarita is designed to reach all of our community members on various levels. For kids, it may be educating them on which fruits and vegetables are essential for healthy growth; for our senior community, the most important message is that it’s never too late to start living a healthy lifestyle,” commented Mayor Cameron Smyth.

Healthy Santa Clarita, an initiative adopted by the City of Santa Clarita City Council for 2005, is a collaborative effort between the Mayor, the Santa Clarita business community and the residents of Santa Clarita.

The goal of the program is to educate community members on the benefits of practicing proper nutrition and exercise to maintain a healthy quality of life. In addition, the www.HealthySantaClarita.com website is resourceful for community members who are seeking to learn more about becoming healthy, as well as locating the businesses in Santa Clarita that help promote healthy living.
