“This is an annual fundraiser with a Halloween theme,” said Kathy Sturkey, executive director of the Los Angeles Residential Community (LARC Ranch). “We’re very excited because the residents can wear their costumes, the staff can if they wish and were finishing up fundraising for our solar project.”

The proceeds of the event will benefit the Ranch by providing funds during the drought crisis, providing operating funds and completing the solar project.

“We are going to be going for our capital campaign in January to hook up to city water,” Sturkey said.hundreds-show-support-for-larc-ranch-at-fundraiser-91262-9

The Ranch has been hauling in water from the edge of the city of Santa Clarita for the past couple months, costing them hundreds of thousands of dollars.

“We weren’t prepared to run out of water,” Sturkey said. “We’ve gotten some grants from the state for hauled water. The support has been fabulous and it’s a beautiful day.”

In N Out Burger and Jamba Juice were some of the food vendors that attended the event along with a meal and hot dogs provided by LARC. Attendees could play games, eat food and dance at the fundraiser.

“The beauty of this event is that it’s on the ranch,” Sturkey said. “People get to see the ranch, they get to see where their money goes hundreds-show-support-for-larc-ranch-at-fundraiser-91262-1and they get to have a casual fun day eating and dancing. It’s very family friendly.”

The LARC Auxiliary, LARC Foundation and Friends of LARC worked together to raise money for the LARC Ranch, said Renee Holland, a board member at the Ranch and whose daughter is a resident at the Ranch.

When asked about the event, Rachelle Gingi, a resident of the Ranch, said that “It’s good” and that her favorite part was the hot dogs and hamburgers.
