Complete with celebrities, artists and the who’s-who of Hollywood, an unnamed “ghost town,” likely one of the western movie sets around Santa Clarita, played host for the release party of the long awaited collaboration album between Kanye West and Kid Cudi.

“For his joint album with Kid Cudi, titled Kids See Ghosts, West followed suit with a mysterious invite sent out a day prior that guided attendees to show up at a parking lot in Hollywood a few hours prior to record release,” read a Billboard article about the event. “While lines stretched for over an hour, buses arrived in destination to Santa Clarita, with a few straggling behind in traffic for several hours.”
According to the social media accounts of those few individuals invited, patrons arrived to a ranch-style cookout, free merchandise and a number of bars and celebrities gathered to celebrate West and Cudi’s latest endeavor.
Footage of the party shows a pyrotechnic display firing giant balls of flames into the air. At points, Kanye and Cudi can be seen beaming as they listen to their newly released album.
But apparently the event ended with more of a whimper than a bang as, according to Billboard, a majority of those in attendance were forced to watch from afar as West and Cudi premiered the newest collaboration for a select few around the campfire. The exclusiveness of this listening party within the exclusive party, left the sound “muddled and lifeless for the crowd.”
“For those who came to hear the reunion of West and Cudi, unless you could push your way past the security guards blocking the entrance to the campfire, you may as well have been better off signing onto Wav at home and getting a much more intimate listen,” concluded the Billboard article. “As the album played, the field emptied and buses slowly returned to Hollywood.”
“Kids See Ghosts” consists of seven songs – ‘Feel the Love,’ ‘Beautiful Madness,’ ‘4th Dimension,’ ‘I Feel Free,’ ‘Reborn,’ ‘Kids See Ghosts’ and ‘Stay Strong’. ‘Feel The Love’ – the intro to the album – features GOOD Music’s Pusha T.
