Relay for Life benefiting the American Cancer Society had an added bonus this year, “Locks of Love”. Six people unselfishly and generously donated their hair to children in need.
The event held June 25 at College of the Canyons had a special mission to collect hair for Locks of Love. This non-profit organization provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children, 18 years of age and younger, who are suffering from long term medical hair loss. It takes three donations of 10 inches to complete one wig. This year these six people can proudly say their collective donation was enough to make two wigs.
If you are considering cutting your hair, please keep Locks of Love in mind. A minimum length of 10 inches is required. The hair may be colored or permed but not bleached or chemically damaged. For more information go to the website: locksoflove.org
