Saint Monica’s Children’s Home is an orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya and currently houses 60 girls. The event titled “That’s Amore” will feature dinner, cocktails, an auction, raffle items and will be hosted by KTLA News Anchor Chris Schauble. All of the proceeds will go directly to Saint Monica’s Children’s Home.
“The goal is to have a really nice community dinner. Basically we want to show the community what we do and what they can do to help. It’s more than just giving money,” Founder of Mothers Fighting For Others, Rocky Turner, said.
However, donations do make up a majority of the approximately $60,000 needed in order to fund the operational costs of Saint Monica’s Children’s Home. This year Turner is setting a very high bar for the fundraiser and is hoping to raise upwards of $50,000.
Turner first visited the orphanage in 2007 as a volunteer and by 2010 became their full financial supporter.
“Money gets tight because educational costs are high and the growing cost of food and educational fees are making it more difficult to fund the orphanage,” Turner said.
If you are interested in attending the fundraiser you can visit the Mothers Fighting For Others website and click on their events link to buy tickets.
The price of admission is $30 for a single adult or $50 per couple. If, however, you want maximize your contribution to Saint Monica’s Children’s Home, a group party of eight guests will cost $200. The event will be held at the Bjorkman residence in Santa Clarita.
