Newhall-based nonprofit, Prayer Angels for the Military, is holding a card-making event at the Old Town Newhall Library on Saturday, Feb. 9 to make Valentine’s Day cards for active duty service men and women and first responders.
Valentine’s Day is approaching, and local nonprofit, Prayer Angels for the Military wants to make sure that active military and first responders know they are not forgotten.

On Sunday, Feb. 9 from 1 to 4 p.m., Prayer Angels will host their annual Hearts for Heroes event at the Old Town Newhall Library, where the community will have the opportunity to make cards and donate care package items for service men and women.
Suggested donation items for Military include:
- Beef jerky
- Drink packets
- Canned (pop-top) ravioli, stews and hearty soups
- Canned fruit
- Peanut butter
- Ritz crackers
- Body wash
- Cotton socks (white or black)
- Lotion
- Three-blade razors
- Baby wipes
- Heat-activated hand warmers
- Winter scarves
- Beanies
- Gloves
- Twin size blankets
- Money for postage
Monetary donations can also be paid online or mailed to Prayer Angels for the Military at 21609 Oak Orchard Road, Newhall, California 91321.

Prayer Angels is a Santa Clarita-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting troops deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq and other areas through prayer and handmade cards. They were founded in 2004 and have served thousands of service men and women since their inception.
