The Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita hosted its fifth annual 5K Purple Walk on Saturday at College of The Canyons, breaking its previous fundraising record for the event and spreading information for Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Hundreds of students and families came out to support the cause by participating in the 5k run/walk and were all awarded with medals by the end of the race after being “purpled” by Domestic Violence Center volunteers throughout the trail.
The event brought in a total of $11,921 and $7,500 in sponsorships, according to Linda Davies, executive director of the Domestic Violence Center.
More than 250 people overall attended the event, which 70 more participants than last year.
