On September 14 at 9 am Jeff Gilbert, music director at Rio Norte Junior High School, will be leading the Rio Norte band as they celebrate National Anthem Day. Over 1300 students will meet at the amphitheatre in the quad area to sing our National Anthem.
On the morning of September 14, 1814, Francis Scott Key penned "The Star-Spangled Banner" after witnessing American forces defend Fort McHenry from British troops during the War of 1812. This day serves as an excellent opportunity to educate students about the national anthem and to demonstrate to the community the important role music teachers play in passing on our cultural heritage.
Rio Norte will join with other schools across the country at 9 a.m. local time to celebrate our national anthem with Santa Clarita’s own unique celebration!
