Hundreds of walkers and runners gathered in Newhall Park for the 11th annual Run Against Hunger early Sunday morning….
Participants made up for the “extra hour of sleep” gained by pushing the clocks back by getting up early, as registration for the Run Against Hunger started at 7 a.m., the race began at 8 a.m., and most runners were in by 8:45 a.m.
Local resident, Rick Chambers, of KCBS Channgel 2 and KCAL Channel 9, hosted the event. The two title sponsors of the Run were William Rose and Associates Engineering and Premiere America Credit Union. Representatives from Western Bagel and “Have a Blast” Energy Drink were also there supplying refreshments.
Belinda Crawford, executive director of the food pantry, said they raised nearly $10,000.
