Alpha Sound & Lighting employees gathered their friends and family members for an evening of gingerbread house decorating, in which the final products will be sold at a silent auction at the Festival of Trees.
“Any chance we get, (Alpha Sound & Lighting) likes to give back to the community that has supported us all of these years,” said Lori Cruz, Alpha Sound & Lighting general manager. “Coming alongside Clarice’s has made this adventure even more fun.”
All profits from the gingerbread houses will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley.
Alpha Sound & Lighting, a retailer of professional audio and video products, used their technological resources to construct the gingerbread houses.
The house-making staff consisted of “20 novice decorators” who transformed the gingerbread houses donated by Clarice’s Cake and Candy Supply.
Alpha Sound & Lighting employees have participated in volunteer activities for the past 36 years, including working with local schools and houses of worship.
Company members give back to the community through audio and video support and system design.
The employees and volunteers at Alpha Sound & Lighting were grateful for the contributions made by Clarice’s Cake and Candy Supply owner Nancy Olmos.
“Nancy offered as many houses as we could handle and supported our efforts with both decorating tips and tricks of the trade,” Cruz said. “They pulled many of the supplies together for us to pick up, cheered the delivery of our finished product and ultimately provided over 100 decorated gingerbread houses to the Festival of Trees.”
Store employees believe making gingerbread houses for the Boys & Girls Club was a great opportunity, since the nonprofit organization hits close to home.
“Everyone was excited for the opportunity to get into the holiday spirit and support the local Boys & Girls Club,” Cruz explained. “Many of my co-workers have benefited from the after-school activities provided by the SCV Boys & Girls Club over the years.”

Festival of Trees will be held at the Westfield Town Center mall from Nov. 15-24.
