Alex Urbina, a Santa Clarita life coach and author of the recently released book “The Inspirational Parent,” is preparing to hold a book signing this week.

Set to take place on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Barnes and Noble in Valencia, residents can meet Urbina, get their copies of the book signed and be inspired to reach their next level of parenting.

“I would love to get more people excited about the momentum that I’ve created and a partnership with the movement called conscious parenting,” Urbina said. “I’d really love for more of the community to be excited about working on themselves such that they become extraordinary parents.”

Urbina views the book signing as a symbol of the conscious parenting movement, and encouraged those in support of it to attend in a show of support for and commitment to that movement.

“To me it’s more of a statement that you’re coming out to support the movement rather than just supporting me, because to me, this is bigger than just me, it’s bigger than just a book,” he explained. “It’s more of a statement that tells the world that this is important, and we need to start healing ourselves and our families.”

“The Inspirational Parent” made the “Amazon Best Sellers – New Releases” list after its August 8 release date, which Urbina called a humbling experience.

“It really moved me to tears to know that I didn’t do that on my own, and that was a rally around me from the community and people that believe in me and my vision,” he said. “That was an experience that really hit me to the core.”

Urbina himself was inspired to embark on his journey to write a book when he attended another author’s book signing, and encouraged others to attend his own for inspiration.

“I believe that everybody has a story to tell, I just believe that most of us don’t believe that our story is worthy of telling and we doubt that it will make a difference,” Urbina said. “If it wasn’t for the last book signing that I went to that really kind of solidified and affirmed that yes I can and yes I will, I’m not sure if I would have had the motivation to kick start that vision and that goal.”

He continued, “So I would encourage those people that have been thinking about writing a book, would love to write a book or have that intuition inside of them that they have a book to write, they should be there to be a part of the experience… You can’t pay for that kind of motivation for yourself.”
