Over 3,000 runners, walkers and volunteers are set for the first Santa Clarita Marathon in two years, after the cancellation of last year’s marathon following the Southern California Wildfires…
This year’s will be the ninth Marathon in Santa Clarita, which has been a big draw for race enthusiasts and regional or national race trainees. It actually serves as a qualifying race for the Boston Marathon. Included will be a full marathon, half marathon, a 5K run/walk, and a Kid K run. All races will begin Sunday morning at 7:00 with the exception of the Kid K which will begin at 8:30 a.m. Races begin at Towne Center Drive and will end at the Valencia Town Center.
Many streets will be affected with closures throughout the city. For details, visit the City of Santa Clarita website.
For more information on the marathon itself, check out the city’s press release.
Leading up to the event, the City will host the Health and Fitness Expo on Saturday, November 6th, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
