Santa Clarita residents are invited to three events for book lovers of all ages, including a bag sale and two free author events, hosted by the Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library.

The event is from Tuesday, August 4 to Sat., August 8, the Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library will host a Summer Bag Sale event at the Valencia, Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy and Old Town Newhall branches of the Santa Clarita Public Library during normal operating hours. For just $7, participants can fill a provided bag with any books they find for sale in the book store. Bring in a Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library book bag from a previous sale and save $1. Proceeds from the bag sale go to benefit the library system.

Beginning in August, library patrons are invited to spend a few evenings with acclaimed writers during free author events at the Valencia Library, located at 23743 West Valencia Boulevard. No RSVP is required to attend.

On Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 7 p.m., suspense writer Jenny Milchman will stop by the Valencia Library to discuss her recently published psychological thriller novel, “As Night Falls.” Milchman is also known for her 2013 Mary Higgins Clark awarded novel “Cover of Snow,” and the highly acclaimed “Ruin Falls.”

The Valencia Library author event series continues on Tuesday, September 15, at 7 p.m., with mystery/thriller writer April Smith, author of the “Ana Grey Mystery Series,” and “Be The One.” Smith will discuss her newest historical fiction, “A Star for Mrs. Blake.”

Light refreshments will be served and copies of the books will be available for purchase and signing at both events.

The Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library is an active group of Santa Clarita residents who volunteer, advocate and fundraise to meet the needs of the Santa Clarita Public Library. All of the proceeds from fundraising events and programs sponsored by the Friends of the Library go toward providing new materials and programming at the Santa Clarita Public Library.
