Santa Clarita Valley Entertainment Report: October 07, 2015 – Thursday night is comedy night at the Bier Academy at Sierra and Soledad in Canyon Country. It’s Wyatt Adam’s birthday, and the popular Santa Clarita comedian has invited a bunch of his outrageous friends to join the celebration.
Performers include Rasheed Stephens, Ryan Reeves, Blake Lawless, Al B, Anna Valenzuela, Izzy Salhani and Jason Adams. Rumor has it they’re all going to roast Wyatt, who’ll wind up the evening with a headlining set if there’s anything left of him.
The show’s free for everyone 18 and older, and the first set is at 8 p.m. Get more info at the “Wyatt’s Birthday Comedy Extravaganza!” event page on Facebook.
On Saturday, the Santa Clarita Valley Blues Society holds its annual battle of the local blues bands, this year at the Sagebrush Cantina in Calabasas.
The competing bands include SCVTV “House Blend” star Chuck Strong and SRBQ, plus Toni Dodd & Southbound Blues, the Frank Christopher Band, 805 South, the Fortune Blues Band, Jim Gustin & Truth Jones, and the Dennis Herrera Blues Band.
The winner gets $2,000 toward a trip to Memphis to compete in the 32nd Annual International Blues Challenge early next year. Music starts at 11 a.m. Saturday, and advance tickets are available at scvblues.ticketleap.com. They’re just $15 for adults, $12 for card-carrying Blues Society members, and $8 for budding blues fans 12 and younger.
And speaking of “House Blend” hosted by yours truly, tune in to SCVTV Saturday night for a special encore telecast of our show featuring Santa Clarita Americana band The fahr.west Sessions. You want to see and hear real musicians? Check out bandleader Tom Lamog and his all-acoustic crew. That’s 10 p.m. Saturday, right here on SCVTV and streaming everywhere at scvtv.com.
