SCV Buzz – Family Fun Activities In Santa Clarita – April 8, 2015

So this is it. Spring Break in all it’s glory. Hopefully you’ve had a great time relaxing and sleeping in this week, but when the weekend comes you are going to need to get out of your house (and your pj’s) and have a little family fun.

Here are my top 5 family fun activities in Santa Clarita this weekend:

Earth Arbor Day

SCV Buzz – Spring BreakYou want your kids to think about the environment. Your KIDS want to learn more about it in a way that isn’t boring. What about an event that will make you both happy?

The City of Santa Clarita’s Earth Arbor Day celebration is this Saturday, April 11 from 10:00am to 4:00pm in Central Park. The fun, free, and informative festival features entertainment, activities, and 7 interactive zones with themes like Alternate Transportation, Eco Zone, and more -5 more, to be exact. Check out their website for details.

You’ll be happy, your kids will be happy, even the EARTH ITSELF will love it!

Curiosity Course

Curious about what a curiosity course is? Of course you are, and so are your little ones.

The free Curiosity Course is taking place on Saturday, April 11th from 2:00 to 3:30pm at the Valencia Library  in the VA Meeting Room. It’s a chance for 9-12 year olds and their families to work together tackling complex engineering challenges and thinking creatively to solve and redesign as a team.

Sounds good right? I know they say curiosity killed the cat, but it will inspire your kids. Just leave the cat at home!

Mentryville

SCV Buzz – Spring BreakHere’s a great day out with kids for your weekend, or for a fun Spring Break activity; take a trip to the Ghost Town of Mentryville.

Located at the base of Pico Canyon, this is a former oil town is now a great tourist and hiking spot. Mentryville has a few standing structures to investigate, plus plenty of fun hiking and picnicking to fill out a beautiful afternoon with your kids.

Take your kids, your camera, and a good ghost story and you will be all set.

Sharp Cheer & Dance Competition

Get excited, get, get excited YEAH! I can’t properly show you the accompanying cheer here on a blog, but trust me, it’s not as good as the cheers you can see live at the Sharp Cheer and Dance Competition.

Saturday, April 11, head over to Six Flags Magic Mountain to see the world’s largest competition and camp circuit cheer and dance their hearts out. You will need to purchase tickets through the Sharp International Website or call 626-279-9267.

I’m so excited, and I just can’t hide it…wait, that’s not a cheer. That’s a Pointer Sisters Song…

Spamalot

SCV Buzz – Spring BreakSearching for the Holy Grail? Love silly fun featuring killer rabbits, cows, and the knights of the round table? Then you may want to take your family to see the hilarious musical Spamalot at the Canyon Theatre Guild.

It’s open Friday-Sunday now through May 2nd and you can check out times and tickets on their website.

This may contain inappropriate material for younger kids, so make it a PG-13 event. Don’t worry, the raunchy and slapstick-y fun will outweigh any explaining you may have to do…
