SCV Buzz - Valentines Week

SCV Buzz – Family Fun Activities In Santa Clarita – February 11, 2015

Get ready parents, it’s a DOUBLE WHAMMY WEEKEND! Valentine’s Day and President’s Day Weekend, which means lots of love and lots of time together. Here are some ideas for you, your kids, your teens, and your sanity.

Here are my top 5 ideas for Family Fun in Santa Clarita this weekend:

Santa Colorita 5K Fun Run

SCV Buzz - Valentine's DayI know that some of you may hear the phrase “Fun Run” and think it’s an oxymoron, but in this case, you can actually run…and have fun!

This Saturday, February 14th, the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce is holding the second annual Santa Colorita Run from 8am to noon. Besides the 5k run for all ages, there are vendors and activities, a family fun run, and a special course “Skip for Jack” that fundraises for charity. Register ASAP by clicking here.

Wear all white because the weather states it will be “Sunny, with a chance of rainbowing”.

Valentine’s For Kids

Date night???? HECK YEAH! Here is a great chance for you to get a little couple time on Valentine’s Day without feeling guilty that your kids will be miserable.

L.A. County Department of Parks & Recreation have a Valentine’s For Kids on Saturday, February 14th from 5-9 pm at William S. Hart Regional Park.. For $20 per child, your kids can enjoy four fun-filled hours, while you enjoy date night. This event is for children ages 5-12 and requires pre-registration which is open through Wednesday, February 11. Scheduled fun and safe activities include: games, DJ playing kid-friendly music, craft activities, movie time with ice cream and popcorn, and board games.

Call 259-0855 to get your spot!

What will you and your mate even SAY to each other in 4 quiet hours together? Time to find out!

Anti-Valentine Celebration

SCV Buzz - Valentine's DayAll the Valentine’s Day hoopla got your tween down in the dumps? Here’s a great way to laugh off the holiday; the Anti-Valentine Celebration at the Valencia Library.

February 12th from 3:30-4:30 bring your 4-7th graders for cranky crafts, moody music and spiteful snacks. Kids are encouraged to wear black and red and enjoy making un-Valentines and black duct tape roses. You can visit www.santaclaritalibrary.com for details.

And if you want to make a few black tape roses yourself, well more power to you.

Pride in the Lake

Do your kids pick up after themselves? Don’t laugh, they can do it if they want to. And they can also help clean up our beautiful lake at the Pride in the Lake event.

February 14th from 9:00am-11:00am, meet at the Castaic Lake Lagoon Ramp at Castaic Lake to pick up trash. They provide the supplies, you provide the kid power and chance to show them how to care for our environment. Visit their website for details and directions.

Who knows, they may even be inspired to keep their “home environment” clean as well. (Insert snorty laugh…)

Valen-Teen Dance

SCV Buzz - Valentine's DayNeed a fun place for your teen to celebrate Valentine’s Day?
