SCV Buzz – Family Fun Activities In Santa Clarita – May 20, 2015

Memorial Day weekend is finally here and that means an extra day of play (and sleep.) As we honor our military, we can also spend time together as a family doing something really fun right here in Santa Clarita.

Here are my top 5 picks for family fun in Santa Clarita this weekend:

Memorial Day Celebration

SCV Buzz - Memorial Day WeekendMemorial Day is on Monday, May 25th, and it’s a great opportunity to talk with your kids about the sacrifices our military families have made to keep us safe.

There is a family friendly ceremony that celebrates, honors, and remembers those who served at the Eternal Valley Memorial Park and Mortuary in Newhall starting at 10 am on Memorial Day.

Not only will it have the more somber festivities, but will also have the Condor Squadron flying overhead and over 500 area Boy and Girl Scouts.

Make the most of your weekend and extra day off to do something really special together. You won’t regret it.

Hurricane Harbor

It’s that time again, SUMMER! You know your kids have been begging you to take them to Hurricane Harbor, and you have been explaining the whole “closed for winter” concept while they tune out and turn on the tv.

Now you can say “Let’s Go” because it’s opening up for the season this weekend, May 23 – 25th and running weekends only until June 5th when it opens for the full hot splashy summer.

Visit their website to get info on times and tickets, and get ready to enjoy a cool time for the whole family.

SCV Buzz - Memorial Day WeekendDo your kids love digging in the your garden, getting covered with dirt, and making a loveable mess? Well, how about putting that energy into learning how to garden at a free Kids Gardening Workshop?

The Community Gardens of Santa Clarita at Central Park has fun educational gardening classes once a month, and this one falls on Saturday, May 23rd from 9 -10:30 am. It’s made for 5-8 year olds and you can visit their website for details.
