Are you running out of ideas of what to do with your little ones, besides play peek-a-boo for the one zillionth time? Are your older kids suffering from school fatigue yet? Are your teenagers sighing and rolling their eyes at you? Wait, that’s all of the time…
My friends, you need to shake it up a bit.
Here are some ideas that hopefully will inspire you to try something new:
Circus Vargas in Santa Clarita
The circus is in town! Doesn’t that phrase evoke childhood memories for you of popcorn, clowns, animals, and lots and lots of sequins? Me too! So give your kids the chance to make their own sequin-related memories by taking them to Circus Vargas this weekend at the Valencia Town Center.
The show “Magikaria Extreme” is running September 26th-28th, and there are times and tickets to fit your budget and schedule. Visit the Circus Vargas website for all of the details. They even have a magician who was on America’s Got Talent, so you know they have got TALENT.

Box City
How many times have you told yourself that you and your family should do more to help those less fortunate than you? It’s hard to know how to get involved and where to start. Luckily, this Saturday night, September 27th, Family Promises of SCV is holding it’s Box City event to raise money and awareness for the homeless and it’s a great event that the whole family can be involved in.
Families pay a small registration fee and set a fundraising goal, then sleep overnight in a cardboard box “home” at Bridgeport Park as a resident of “Box City”. Sounds daunting, but really it’s a ton of fun with bands, activities, entertainment, and free food. For registration info, click here. Sleep in a box so other families won’t have to.
Old Town Newhall Library Dance Party
Just because your kids are little doesn’t mean they don’t want to Bust a Move as much as you do. Or did, before you were parents and actually went out dancing. Well, you can both take a morning to get your groove on at Old Town Newhall Library’s Dance Party for kids 0-5 years old.
The music and movement starts at 10:30 on Friday, September 26th, and this free event is sure to get your little ones in the party mood.
I promise, there will be no judgment on the parents if they start breaking out a little Roger Rabbit or Cabbage Patch in the background. Well, maybe a little judgment…
Top Things To Do In Santa Clarita This Weekend
Native American Craft Fair
If you haven’t experienced the thrill of Native American Dancing and Drumming, you are going to get your chance by taking the whole family out for a free day of fun. This weekend Hart Park and the Friends of Hart Park are presenting the 21st Annual Hart of the West and Native American Craft fair from Saturday from 10-6 and Sunday from 10-5:30 and it’s a great opportunity to learn about Native American Culture.
There is even a princess contest for ages 15-19…hey, can we up the age on that a little? I will bring my own tiara and do a cups routine on the floor-wait-that was for the Miss America pageant. Carry on.
SCV Music Festival
Music lovers are music LOVERS, it doesn’t matter if you are 5 or 95. So luckily this weekend the hills are alive with the sound of music for all ages…at the SCV Music Festival! It’s September 26th and 27th at the Valencia Country Club.
Aaron Tippin, Garth Guy, and many more musical performers will cover a variety of styles, so you are sure to hear your favorites. Tickets vary in price but kids under 12 are free, so the whole family can avoid getting the blues over the cost, and concentrate on just listening to the blues.
Tickets and info are available at at the SCV Music Festival, click here.
