SCV Charity Chili Cook-Off Raises $30K For Santa Clarita Charities

Dozens attended the 3rd annual SCV Charity Chili Cook-Off and raised about $30,000 for Santa Clarita Valley charities.

“It looks like we have about $30,000 that we’re able to split between the three charities,” said Nicole Stinson, founder of the event SCV Charity Chili Cook-Off Raises $30K For Santa Clarita Charitiand a real estate agent with the Estate Realty Group. “Last year, we raised $20,000 and we had to split that between five charities.”

This year’s event was held at the Hyatt Regency in Valencia on March 20. 

The charities that benefited from this year’s SCV Charity Chili Cook-Off are Bridge to Home, LARC Ranch and Help The Children.

“The event went really well,” Stinson said. “We had great attendance and everyone had a great time.”

 The winners of the 3rd annual SCV Charity Chili Cook-Off were:

Judge’s Choice:

1ST PLACE – Jason Vasquez

2nd PLACE– Candace McClain

3rd PLACE– Sonja Randall

People’s Choice:

1st Place — Tamar House

2nd Place — Mark Surette

3rd Place — John Villanueva

Best Decorated Booth:

Sandy Holguin and Kathy Kuric

 Next year’s SCV Charity Chili Cook-Off is expected to be located at a new, surprise venue, Stinson said.

 “The event is too big for (the Hyatt Regency in Valencia),” she said. “We need to move it outdoors. We’re looking to make it a family-friendly day event and maybe add a beer fest.”

“We were very surprised, happy and grateful for the support for the community that came,” Stinson said. “We saw a lot of new faces that we hope to see again next year.”
