This weekend, from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, at Vista Valencia Golf Course, a $35 pre-sale ticket (or $40 at the gate, but active military and veterans enter for free) will get you pirate fun, beer and  chance to support the armed forces.

In addition to pirate-themed decor, there will also be actors and actresses dressed for the event, said Suzon Gerstel, a co-founder of one of the beneficiaries for the event, Prayer Angels for the Military.

In only its second year, Gerstel is hopeful SCV residents will turn out en masse to support the troops, have a good time and, best case, start a new pre-Halloween tradition in the Santa Clarita Valley.

“It’s supposed to be a fun and do-good event at the same time,” Gerstel said, “and about having a memorable experience. If this works out well, then, it’s a keeper.”

The goal is to “ensure that we can help our veterans with PTSD, send care packages to our deployed troops and assist veterans through COC Veterans Affairs, with donations from the event,” she said.

In addition to live music from Dark Skies, Bar Fly, and Ghost in the Machine, there will be nearly two dozen different craft beer brands from all over.

Tickets can only be bought at the gate with cash.
