From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., participants will have an opportunity to get up close to emergency vehicles, antique fire engines, construction rigs, movie vehicles, classic and antique vehicles and more.

Children will enjoy removable “tattoos,” costumed characters and professional magicians—who will teach youngsters a few tricks of their own. A live disk jockey will offer family-friendly music throughout the day.2nd Annual Touch-A-Truck Fundraiser Brings Fire Engines and More To Saugus

Smokey the fire-preventing bear will be on hand with fire safety tips, the Jethawks’ Kaboom mascot will be on hand from 10 a.m. to noon, and Six Flags Magic Mountain has been invited to send a favorite Warner Brothers character.

Special vehicles on display will include a monster truck, one of the most popular photo opportunities from the 2014 Touch-A-Truck event; and close to a dozen beautifully restored antique cars in the special “look, but don’t touch” section.

Visitors also will have a chance to experience an earthquake in the popular Shaky Quaky Schoolhouse, win a prize by guessing the number of beach balls in a bed of a city dump truck, and claim one of the balls for their own at the 12:30 p.m. “dump party “.

Admission to Touch-A-Truck is $5, and fathers and grandfathers will be admitted free when accompanied by their children in honor of the Father’s’ Day weekend. Proceeds will go to the SCV Senior Center and help to support such services as Home Delivered Meals, Respite Day Care, and Care Management to local seniors.

“Kids love vehicles,” commented City Mayor Marsha McLean, who is serving as the event chair for the third year, “and now they will be able to touch their favorite things on wheels.” She noted that the event will offer a close-up look at a cavalcade of construction rigs, fire engines, sheriff’s cars, military vehicles, famous film industry cars, race cars and “nearly anything you can think of!”

Food trucks will offer meals and delicious treats to purchase, and soft drinks and bottled water also will be available for sale. Food trucks which have committed to date include Fry Fry, Sweet Arleen’s Shave It, Burnt to a Crisp Texas Smokehouse, Dogtown Dogs and Big Mouth Pizza.

Dozens of vendors will offer their wares in the boutique vendor section, offer information on non-profit services, or host children’s games and crafts. A nonpartisan voter registration booth will help guests register to vote.

Advance tickets can be ordered at scv-seniorcenter.org or by calling Jennifer at (661) 259-9444, extension 144. Tickets will also be available at the gate on June 20.

A free shuttle will be available to transport guests from the overflow parking lot at Saugus High School, nearby on Centurion Way, once the Central Park lot, on Bouquet Canyon Road, reaches capacity.
