“Over the past 15 years we’ve seen very interesting results at our Recreational Music Center in North Hollywood as parents and their children play together, share together, and deepen their relationships with one another,” said Remo Belli, the owner and founder of Remo Drums. “We are very pleased to be able to bring this opportunity for creativity and connection to the Santa Clarita Valley, where our company has its home.”

The Recreational Music Center in North Hollywood has a continuing rotation of rhythm classes. The Remo Company, however, is located in Valencia and they wanted to have a second location close to home, according to SCVi officials.

SCVi has developed a relationship with the Remo Drum Company over the last year, according to SCVi officials.

As a result, SCVi offered a space where the company could host the event.

Earlier this year, the Remo Drum Company donated 30 drums to the SCVi Charter School.

“This event is for fun… All experiences for young people are learning experiences, but it doesn’t have to be overt or explicit.  When kids are four, five, or six years old, playing is their work. They are here to play, to explore textures, sound, all of it,” said Sara Brown, Community Outreach Coordinator for SCVi Charter School.

The event is open to the public and will be held every Saturday at SCVi Charter School from 9:30 – 10 a.m. The event will not stop during summer break.

“It’s a great event for ages zero to 105… It’s rhythm, anybody can play. You don’t need to be a musician,” said Brown.

The event is free to kids and costs parents $5. SCVi Charter School asks parents not to drop their children off.

“We are very grateful for the partnership with REMO Drums. We look forward to more events in the future,” said Brown.
