“Over the past 15 years we’ve seen very interesting results at our Recreational Music Center in North Hollywood as parent and their children play together, share together, and deepen their relationships with one another,” said Remo Belli, founder of Remo, Inc. “We are very pleased to be able to bring this opportunity for creativity and connection to the Santa Clarita Valley, where our company has its home.”
The event is scheduled to be held every Saturday at SCVi Charter School from 9:30 – 10 a.m. with the first event being held Saturday, April 25. The event is free to kids and costs parents $5.
“It’s a great event for ages zero to 105,” said Sara Brown, SCVi Charter School spokeswoman. “It’s great for all ages, no experience necessary. It’s rhythm, anybody can play. You don’t need to be a musician.”
The event is planned to be held in the Village room and can fit about 40 people with musical instruments, Brown said. Remo is bringing in professionals to facilitate the event.
Remo also offers HealthRHYTHMS, which uses group drumming as a form of recreational music making (RMM), which emphasizes quality of life over heightened performance, to achieve desired health outcomes in therapeutic, educational, and recreational settings.
In January of this year, Remo also donated 30 drums to SCVi Charter School.
“SCVi & iLEAD Charter Schools are looking forward to the many ways drumming will enhance educational experiences for learners,” said Founder and Co-Executive Director, Amber Raskin in a news release. “Studies have shown that rhythm in the classroom can help facilitate the connections learners make in mathematics, language arts, and other subjects. iLEAD and SCVi Charter Schools are always looking for ways to enhance the learners experience.
“The school is looking forward to the many ways drumming will add to the classroom setting.” said Raskin “But equally, if not more important to SCVi and iLEAD Charter Schools, is the benefit of developing leadership and social emotional growth of learners while in a drum circle and using instruments”

“We have seen so many families connecting in joy and play at other drum circles,” said John Fitzgerald, manager of Recreational Music Activities for Remo. “We are thrilled to be able to bring this same wonderful opportunity to the Santa Clarita Valley.”
