The Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society invites anyone interested in docenting for the next year to a walking tour of downtown Newhall. Newhall has a unique history that lies just under the surface of an ongoing Newhall Redevelopment. Some buildings look new and some look dated, but some are actually very old. On New Years Eve this year we will take you on a walk of Newhall that will point these out while talking about the town’s colorful history. This tour is only available to volunteers who commit to docenting or volunteering at least 3 hours a month for the next year. This is an opportunity participate in actually preserving the history of our town. Hundreds of residents drive through this area every day. More now ride through on the Metrolink. Photo opportunities will include discussion at Heritage Junction Park and the group in front of various buildings in downtown Newhall, including the Metrolink Station, the old courthouse, the home of the first Sheriff’s office and the constabulary jail that came before it. It will also include, from a more modern point of view, a chance to highlight changes within the redevelopment itself.
