The 2014 Taste of the Town food and beverage event to benefit the Santa Clarita Child & Family Center will be held 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 4 at the Mann Biomedical Park in Valencia.
The event will feature “tastes” from 50 local restaurants and caterers as well as fine wines and beer.

In addition, there will be live musical entertainment from platinum recording artist Mark LeVang & Friends; a live auction including trips to Tuscany and Hawaii, an adorable rescue poodle-mix puppy, and a special dinner cooked in your own home (with cooking lessons) by Chef Louis Eguaras, former chef to United States Presidents George H. Bush and William J. Clinton.
The silent auction will offer hundreds of items up for bid.
The popular Diamond Drop drawing will find one lucky winner with a stunning one-carat diamond from Classic Designs Jewelry.
Each year Apo Yessayan, owner of Classic Designs Jewelry, travels to Belgium to hand-select the rare diamond awarded to the winner. Tickets to the Diamond Drop, which includes a free glass of champagne, are $25 each.
2014 Santa Clarita Taste of the Town
Taste of the Town will also offer a drawing for a 15-day Princess Cruises trip for two to the Hawaiian Islands.
“Princess Cruises really stepped up for us this year,” said Joyce Carson, event co-chairwoman. “We are only selling 200 tickets for the cruise. Tickets are $100 each.”
Now in its 26th year, Taste of the Town raised $223,000 in 2013 – funds that help the non-profit provide critical mental health, behavioral, and educational services to children, adults and families in the Santa Clarita Valley.
“These programs and services make a difference in children’s lives every day, so they can grow to become successful productive citizens,” said Sandra Smith, event co-chairwoman, who worked for the Sulphur Springs School District from 1984 to 2010. “It is our obligation as members of the SCV community to value the important role of the Child & Family Center and provide assistance in whatever way possible.”
Tickets to Taste of the Town, an adults-only event, include all food and beverages. Prices: $75 per individual and $100 for umbrella-covered table seating (pre-sale only).
