KHTS will sponsor the winning band of this preliminary competition. In order to be considered for the preliminary round of the Texaco Country Showdown, all contestants must get sponsored by a participating local radio station.

The contestants must submit a tape of their music to showdown@hometownstation.com  by the morning of June 25th. Ten acts will be chosen from those submissions to compete in the preliminary round held at Keyboard Galleria Music Center on June 29th at 5:00 p.m.

Three finalists will be selected from those who competed in the preliminary round to perform one song each at the last local competition held at the free Concerts in the Park. The winner will be chosen by three celebrity judges at the event.

After the Concerts in the Park, the winner will move on to various state and regional competitions in the hopes of reaching the 32nd annual Texaco Country Showdown in Nashville, Tennessee.

Past winners of the local, state and regional competitions leading to the Texaco Country Showdown include Jason Aldean, Garth Brooks, Martina McBride, Sarah Evans, Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley, and Billy Ray Cyrus.
