The California State Final of the 32nd Annual Texaco Country Showdown will be held at Knott’s Berry Farm on Saturday, August 17 at 7 P.M. Be sure to come out to the Wagon Camp and support Suzanne Harper, our local artist.
Suzanne Harper recently performed at Concerts in the Park. After winning the local finals, she is advancing on to the California State Finals.
Poor Man’s Poison, the winning band from Texaco Country Showdown last year, started in Santa Clarita as well. They were sponsored by KHTS and won the National Finals, claiming the title “Best New Act in Country Music” and a $100,000 prize.

Suzanne Harper is a San Diego native from the countryside of Valley Center. There she fell in love with country music as she grew up singing and playing the guitar. She continues to perform and expand her music career throughout Southern California. She has performed at the Cricket Wireless Amphitheater with Sugarland, House of Blues San Diego, Anthology, Moonlight Amphitheater, Valley View Casino, Pauma Casino, Fox 5 San Diego, and 102.1 KPRI FM.
On August 17, Knott’s Berry Farm will not only offer the Texaco Country Showdown for entertainment, but also the usual park attractions as well as some new ones including Coast Rider, Surfside Gliders, and Pacific Scrambler. There are over 165 rides, shows, and attractions. The park includes entertainment for thrill-seekers, families, and children.
Country music artist Jewel will be hosting the National Finals of the Texaco Country Showdown. This is a great opportunity for the contestants to get their foot in the door. The Texaco Country Showdown is America’s largest country music talent search. Past winners include many famous country artists including Martina McBride, Garth Brooks, Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean, Brad Paisley, and Billy Ray Cyrus.
