Providence Holy Cross and SCV Arts are launching their special collaboration at a private reception for community leaders, local businesses, school, and community groups.
The reception, planned for Thursday evening, will included a brief overview of The Art of Healing, a two-tiered community art program designed to promote the talents of local artists and elementary school children from the Santa Clarita Valley, while providing a healing environment to patients at Providence Holy Cross Health Center in Santa Clarita. The project, a joint collaboration between Providence Holy Cross and SCV Arts, is sponsored by KHTS AM-1220. Mercedes Benz of Valencia is an additional co-sponsor of the children’s art program.
Kathy Kumme, a well-known artist whose paintings reflect her work, both as a family therapist and as a spiritual healer, will unveil her artwork. Other local artists will also unveil their artwork.
Art, no matter the format, can be used as a method of healing for the artist, visitor and patient alike. This program is intended to give local artists and children the opportunity to display their talents and put a smile on the face of those receiving treatment at the Providence Holy Cross Health Center at the intersection of McBean Parkway and Valencia Boulevard. This ongoing program will rotate the art on a quarterly basis to provide a diverse representation of the many talented artists in the Santa Clarita Valley. It will enhance arts for Santa Clarita youth and local artists, and more importantly, the displayed art will help the healing process for thousands of Providence Holy Cross visitors.
