“We have Scarecrow Alley, which is free, we have a train ride, a petting zoo, a corn maze and a wagon ride” said Levi Lombardi, a lombardiscarecrowfinalmember of the Lombardi family who oversees farming for the ranch. “There’s a lot for people to do and there’s something for every budget. People can come hang out all day and let their kids run wild and not spend a dime or they can come buy pumpkins and food.”

This year, the Fall Festival offered live music, bake sales, a pumpkin carving contest and a scarecrow design contest.

The event will conclude on Sunday with several performances by the Bunky Spurling Band, Dance Studio 81 and R&B band Floyde and the Fly Boys, according to the Lombardi Ranch website.

Lombardi Ranch has held its Fall Festival since 1989 and has been selling pumpkins since 1968.

Lombardi Ranch is kind of a family tradition,” said Lancaster man Mark Welsh, who comes to the ranch every year. “It’s just a really nice family experience. There’s not a lot of those around anymore.”

More than 8,000 students visit the ranch every year on field trips for tours of the pumpkin patch, according to Lombardi Ranch’s website.

“We usually stay open until the day before Thanksgiving, but because of the drought we don’t know how long we’ll be able to continue selling produce” said Barbara Grey, supervisor of the produce stand. “We’ll at least be open a week or two after Halloween.”

Along with pumpkins, corn and tomatoes are the most popular produce sold at the ranch, but onions, peppers, squash, watermelon and cantaloupe, are also offered at the ranch’s produce stand, all of which are grown on the family-owned farm, according to Lombardi.
