Santa Clarita Ballet “The Nutcracker”

When:  Saturday, December 21 at 2pm and 7:30pm;  Sunday, December 22 at 2pm and 7:00pm
Where:  Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center on the COC Valencia Campus,
Details:  The Santa Clarita Ballet Company has performances of the holiday classic, “The Nutcracker.”  This magical ballet features characters that delight audiences with journeys through wondrous lands.  This lively and colorful performance has been a long-standing Christmas tradition.  And for Santa Clarita, the Santa Clarita Ballet’s “The Nutcracker” is a community tradition.  Whether you have been before or would be going for the first time, you will not be disappointed.  Tickets prices: Adults are $30 Orchestra/Box and $28 Balcony; children under 10 are $26 any seat; seniors 65 years and over are $26 any seat.  See website for SC Ballet Box Office hours or call 661-251-0366.  More information is available online.

NorthPark Community Church “Whoville Christmas”

When:  Saturday, December 21 at 8:30am-11am
Where:  NorthPark Community Church, 28310 Kelly Johnson Parkway, Valencia
Details:  NorthPark Community Church has a special event planned, “Whoville Christmas” Breakfast With Santa.  The morning includes breakfast, photo opportunity with Santa, games, crafts, face painting.  Breakfast with Santa starts at 8:30am.  Breakfast runs from 9-11am.  RSVPs are a must, no walk-ins.  Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for children up to age two, with a $35 maximum for the family.  More information is available by calling 296-6784 or online

The Sanctuary Church “It’s A Wonderful Life”

When:  7pm on December 20, 21, 22
Where:  The Sanctuary Church, 26444 Friendly Valley Parkway – at Sierra Highway
Details:  The Sanctuary Church has the stage production of “It’s A Wonderful Life.”  The show begins at 7pm but The Sanctuary invited you to come early for holiday festivities including coffee, hot cocoa, dessert, and Christmas Carolers.  Tickets are $5.  More information and tickets are available by calling 252-72 55 or online.

When:  Saturday, December 21 from 9am-6pm

Details:  Canyon Theatre Guild has the ultimate in Christmas season performances “It’s A Wonderful Life.”  “This is a warm and wonderful adaptation of Frank Capra’s beloved movie which tells the saga of George Bailey, the Everyman from the small town of Bedford Falls.  His dreams of travel and adventure have been quashed by family obligations and civic duty, and his Guardian Angel has to descend on Christmas Eve to save him from despair and to remind him that his has been, after all, a wonderful life.”  Tickets are $17-19 for adults and $15-17 for juniors and seniors.  More information and tickets are available by calling 799-2702 or online.

Lancaster Performing Arts Center “Helen Reddy Christmas Show”

Ice Station Valencia “Family Snow Day”

When:  Sunday, December 22 and Sunday, December 29 from 1:30-4:30pm 
Where:  Ice Station Valencia, 67745 N. Smyth Drive, Valencia (across from Valencia High School)
Details:  Ice Station Valencia is holding “Family Snow Day.”  You can have fun in the snow without leaving Santa Clarita.  Ice skate, drink hot cocoa or meet Frosty the Snowman while having family holiday fun.  The Snow Play area will be available from 2-4pm.  Child admission includes Snow Play area on the pond rink (no skates, just tennis shoes), large skating area to ice skate (with skate rentals), hot cocoa, and meeting Frosty.  Sleds will be available but you are welcome to bring your own toys and sleds for snow play.  Child admission (17 years and under) is $12.  Adult admission is free to play and $5 for skate rentals.  More information is available by calling 755-8686 or online.

City Of Santa Clarita “Cocoa, Cookies & Caroling”

City Of Santa Clarita “Movie Madness”

Military Family Holiday Baskets

Details: Prayer Angels for the Military is organizing Military Family Holiday Baskets for military families in need. “For military families, the holidays can be a difficult time, especially with their loved ones deployed. Separation can be financially and emotionally exhausting, especially during the holidays.” Holiday Baskets are a great way to show our appreciation. Baskets for a single service member are also accepted. What’s needed:  box up and decorate goods for a family to cook up a holiday meal of their own, or donate a grocery gift card for the family to purchase their own holiday dinner and trimmings. You can also include handmade holiday goodies, crafts or ornaments. Help with gift giving by donating toys for children ages 1-12, gift cards, pre-paid credit cards, gas cards or movie tickets. SC Artist Association “Joy To Art”

Details:  The Santa Clarita Artists’ Association presents “Joy To Art!” This is an opportunity to see and purchase special items.  “Small Pieces – Small Prices.  A special holiday selection where all small art prices are $100.  Come in to see one-of-a-kind paintings, art pieces, photography, handmade jewelry and holiday ornaments and more.  Give the gift of art!”  Gallery Hours:  Fridays and Saturdays from 4-10pm, Sundays from 1-7pm.

Details:  Prayer Angels For The Military is asking donations for any size hand made blankets, throws, quilts and afghans are being requested from the community for the holidays. Winter scarves are also needed. These gifts of comfort and love will be presented to our senior veterans, wounded warriors and some will be going out to our troops in Afghanistan. City Of Santa Clarita Youth Sports’ LA Kings Day

Where:  Staples Center
Details:  Hockey fans can sign up for the City of Santa Clarita’s 2nd Annual Youth Sports LA Kings Day.  The Kings will be facing off the Dallas Stars.  Last day to purchase tickets is Friday, December 20.  Tickets are $98 for 100 level, $79 for 200 level, and $40 for 300 level.  From each ticket purchase, $2 will be donated to the City of Santa Clarita S.C.O.R.E. program.
