Valencia United Methodist “Advent Celebration”

Where:  Valencia United Methodist, 25718 McBean Parkway, Valencia – across from Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital
Details:  Valencia United Methodist is hosting their “Advent Celebration”.  The event features dinner, Advent wreath-making, snow, games, worship and a tree lighting.  Reserve early.  Tickets are $8 per person and $30 maximum per family.  More information is available by calling 255-1301 or online.  

Canyon Theatre Guild “It’s A Wonderful Life”

When:  8pm performances:  November 29 and 30, December 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21;  2pm Matinees: December 1, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22;  Weeknights at 7pm: December 17, 18, 19; 6pm performance:  Sunday, December 22
Where:  Canyon Theatre Guild, 24242 Main Street in Old Town Newhall
Details:  Canyon Theatre Guild has the ultimate in Christmas season performances “It’s A Wonderful Life”.  “This is a warm and wonderful adaptation of Frank Capra’s beloved movie which tells the saga of George Bailey, the Everyman from the small town of Bedford Falls.  His dreams of travel and adventure have been quashed by family obligations and civic duty, and his Guardian Angel has to descend on Christmas Eve to save him from despair and to remind him that his has been, after all, a wonderful life.”  Tickets are $17-19 for adults and $15-17 for juniors and seniors.  More information and tickets are available by calling 799-2702 or online.

Repertory East Playhouse “Play It Again, Sam”

When:  Now through December 14, Friday and Saturdays at 8pm, Sunday Matinees at 2pm
Where:  Repertory East Playhouse, 24266 Main Street in Old Town Newhall
Details:  Repertory East Playhouse has Woody Allen’s “Play It Again, Sam”.  “It’s still the same old story, a fight for love and glory.”  The play is about a recently divorced writer of film commentary that is being urged to date again by his best friend and his best friend’s wife.  Come an hour before the show and stop at The Hideaway Lounge featuring full-service cocktails.  Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for students and seniors.  Tickets and information on the Opening Night Gala are available online

Lancaster Performing Arts Center “A Merri-achi Christmas”

When:  Sunday, December 1 at 3pm
Where:  Lancaster Performing Arts Center, 750 W. Lancaster Boulevard, Lancaster
Details:  Lancaster Performing Arts Center is putting Mariachi into Christmas with “Mariachi Sol de Mexico de Jose Hernandez – A Merri-achi Christmas”.  “Sol de Mexico is an inspiring, artistic mariachi ensemble. Truly representative of a treasured Mexican heritage, Hernandez and his talented musicians and dancers welcome the holiday season with a colorful celebration of Mexico’s Christmas traditions with a special tribute to the states of Veracruz, Yucatan and Jalisco.”  More information and tickets are available by calling 723-5950 or online.

Small Business Saturday

When:  Saturday, November 30
Where:  Small businesses within the Santa Clarita Valley
Details:  Make the decision to shop small.  Take part in supporting our local economy and small businesses on Small Business Saturday, that day between Black Friday and Cyber Monday.  Small businesses are owned by our friends and neighbors.  They are here for us all through the year and Saturday is a day we can help them by shopping locally at all of our favorite (or newly discovered) small businesses.   

Operation Thank Our Troops

When:  Saturday, November 30 from noon-3pm
Where:  Newhall Library, 24500 Main Street, Old Town Newhall
Details:  Join Prayer Angels For The Military in “Operation Thank Our Troops”, sending care packages to Afghanistan.  Items still needed: Granola bars, beef jerky, cookies, nuts, Pringles, trail mix, peanut butter & Ritz type crackers, tuna kits, instant oatmeal & hot cocoa packets, ground coffee (Starbucks type), individual drink packets, canned Ravioli/hearty soups (pop-top lid’s),   3 blade razors, international phone cards (AT&T only), AA/AAA batteries, white or black cotton sport socks, winter scarves, gloves & beanies, chemically activated hand warmers, high intensity flashlights, duct tape, hand held games, treats & toys for large military dogs, cards & letters of support and much needed cash donations for shipping costs.  Print a list or donate online at PrayerAngelsForTheMilitary.com. Hart Holiday Boutique & Craft Fair

When:  Saturday, November 30 and Sunday, December 1 from 9am-4pm
Where:  William S. Hart Park, Park Hall, 24151 Newhall Avenue, Newhall
Details:  The Friends of Hart Park in cooperation with the County of L.A. Department of Parks and Recreation is hosting Hart Holiday Boutique & Craft Fair.  The event will feature handmade crafts, fashion accessories, jewelry, gift baskets, fabric creations, and unique fall and holiday gift items.  Admission is free.  For more information call 259-1750 or aewing@parks.lacounty.gov

Community Chanukah Celebration 

When:  Sunday, December 1 from 5-6pm
Where:  Westfield Valencia Town Center, in front of the main mall entrance
Details:  Join in a Community Chanukah Celebration with Temple Beth Ami’s Rabbi Mark Blazer. Action Family Foundation “Holiday Family Fun”

When:  Friday through Sunday, December 6-7 from 7-9pm
Where:  Old Town Newhall, along Main Street
Details:  Action Foundation is hosting a one-of-a-kind Holiday Family Fun event featuring Hayrides and/or Antique Fire Truck rides to see the holiday lighting in Old Town Newhall.  The ride includes hot chocolate and photos with Santa Claus.  Rides will run every 15 minutes.  All proceeds will benefit the Action Family Foundation’s continued fight against substance abuse with our local youth.  Rides cost $10 for adults and $5 for children.  More information and reservations can be made online.

Real Life Church “Colors Of Christmas” 

When:  Thursday, December 12 at 7:30pm; Friday, December 13 at 7:30pm; Saturday, December 14 at 2pm and 7:30pm
Where:  Real Life Church, 23841 Newhall Ranch Road, Valencia – between McBean and Grandview
Details:  Real Life Church invites our families to “experience the colors of Christmas” as a new holiday tradition.  There will be an outdoor tree lighting ceremony featuring lights, music and snow.  Strolling Victorian carolers will be singing traditional holiday classics.  Photo booths will be available for creating a treasured memory.  Food trucks will be on hand, and coffee and hot chocolate will be served in Undergrounds Coffeehouse.  Tickets are $5 each.  More information and tickets are available online.

Action Family Foundation “Holiday Boutique”

When:  Saturday, December 7 from 1-5pm
Where:  Action Family Zone, 20655 Soledad Canyon Road, Ste 24 – on Soledad at Ruether, across from Home Depot
Details:  Action Family Foundation is holding a “Holiday Boutique”.  Stroll tables of holiday and seasonal items to give as gift or for holiday decorating.  The Boutique is open to the public and admission is free. Free gift wrapping will be offered.

Valencia Marketplace “Holiday Celebration” 

When:  Saturday, December 7 from noon-3pm
Where:  Valencia Marketplace on The Old Road between McBean Parkway and Lyons Avenue at the Valencia Marketplace Amphitheater – near Noah’s Bagels (closer to McBean Parkway)
Details:  Valencia Marketplace is holding a “Holiday Celebration” to kick-off the holiday season and KHTS will be there, too.  Valencia Marketplace may be our one-stop shopping place but they also want to give back to the community with family fun.  There will be musical performances by several local school choirs and other groups.  The KHTS 1948 Mack Fire Truck will be available for photos.  There will be prizes and store discounts.  More information is available online.

Henry Mayo’s “33rd Annual Home Tour” 

When:  Saturday, December 7 from 9:30am-4:30pm
Where:  various locations throughout Santa Clarita Valley

Gingerbread House Contest

When:  Saturday, December 7 and Sunday, December 8 will be the public viewing
Where:  Valencia Library Meeting Room, 
Details:  The Friends of the Santa Clarita Public Library will be holding their “First Annual Gingerbread House Contest”.  Enter and start building now to celebrate the holidays.  Entry deadline is Wednesday, December 4.  This contest is for all ages and skill levels.  It is free to enter.   Enter online or visit your local library.  More information and entry forms are available online.

City Of Santa Clarita “Hot Cocoa & A Movie”

When:  Saturday, December 7 from 1-4pm
Where:  Santa Clarita Sports Complex, 20870 Centre Pointe Parkway – at Golden Valley Parkway
Details:  The City of Santa Clarita is hosting “Hot Cocoa & A Movie”.  Sign up now, seating is limited.  The movie is “Santa Buddies The Legend of Santa Paws”.  Hot cocoa and crafts will follow the movie.  Children under 8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. City Of Santa Clarita “Breakfast With Santa”

When:  Saturday, December 14 from 8:30-10:30am
Where:  Santa Clarita Activities Center, 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway at Golden Valley Parkway
Details:  The City of Santa Clarita is hosting “Breakfast with Santa”.  “Visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus and join them for a wonderful breakfast, holiday stories, crafts, and watch Santa blast off in his Turbo Sleigh.”  Don’t forget to bring your camera for photos with Santa.  Tickets are required for anyone age one and older.  Tickets must be purchased in advance and are $15 per person (non-Santa Clarita residents are $20).  Limited seating, register now at the Activities Center or online. Military Honor Christmas Tree Lighting

When:  Saturday, December 7 at 6pm
Where:  Veterans Historical Plaza at Market & Newhall in Old Town Newhall
