Santa Clarita Swap Meet “Golden Anniversary Party”
When:  Sunday, April 21 from 7am-3pm
Where:  Santa Clarita Swap Meet, 22500 Soledad Canyon Road
Details:  The Santa Clarita Swap Meet is celebrating their “Golden Anniversary” with a 50th Birthday Party.  KHTS will be broadcasting live to showcase the celebration.  The 60s dance band “Retro Station” will be performing.  There will be prize giveaways and a contest to win a new 42-inch HD Flat Screen T.V. Local elementary school choirs will be performing.  Come out to share in the party and stop by the KHTS booth and say hello to KHTS own Afternoon Drive DJ, Jason Endicott and let the kids climb on the KHTS 1948 Mack Fire Truck.  

COC Veteran’s Affairs “Film Screening”
When:  Friday, April 19 at 6pm
Where:  College of the Canyons Valencia Campus, Mentry Hall, Room 305
Details:  The Veteran’s Affairs Department at College of the Canyons  will present writer/director Martin Papazian’s debut, award-winning film “Least Among Saints” during a free community screening.  The film has been “hailed by critics as ‘authentically moving’, life-affirming’ and ‘emotionally uplifting’”  Least Among Saints tells the story of veteran Anthony Hayward, who returns home from war to find his marriage broken and his future uncertain.  Admission is free but please reserve space by calling 661-212-3649.

“Saddle Up!” at SENSES – KHTS/SCTV Meet-N-Greet
When:  Thursday, April 18 from 7-11pm
Where:  Main Street, Old Town Newhall
Details:  This month’s SENSES block party has a theme to tie-in with the Cowboy Festival, “Saddle Up!”  There will be Country music, line dancing, gourmet food trucks, vendors and the unveiling of the newest Walk of Western Stars.  And if that isn’t enough, word is, there will be a mechanical bull.  Come on by OutWest Marketing (across from Canyon Theatre Guild) for a meet-n-greet with KHTS and SCVTV show hosts. Read more in a story on the KHTS website.  

Cowboy Couture – One of the Kick Off Events to Cowboy Festival
When:  Thursday, April 18, 7pm for cocktails, 8pm for fashion show
Where:  Repertory East Playhouse, 24266 Main Street, Old Town Newhall
Details: Cowboy Couture is a “Western inspired, big city, cowboy infused premiere fashion event” that is one of the kick off events for the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival.  The country rock and roll show starts with a reception in the Repertory East Playhouse Hydeaway Lounge with cocktails.  Tickets are $20 general seating and $25 for stage seating.  More information and tickets are available by calling 661-288-0000 or online.

Rancho Camulos  “Sourdough Slim Concert” – A Kick-Off Event to the SC Cowboy Festival
When:  Friday, April 19 at 11am
Where:  Rancho Camulos National Historic Landmark, 5164 E. Telegraph Road, Piru (West on Highway 126)

Fast Frame – Art Contest Entries

Where:  Fast Frame Valencia, 24204 Valencia Boulevard, Valencia (Kohl’s/Whole Foods center)
Details:  Fast Frame Valencia  participated in a National Fast Frame Children’s Art Contest and the local entries are now on display.  Interested children, grades first through fifth, were asked “What’s Your Super Power?”  The contest provides an opportunity for individual creative expression on what their super power is or would be.  Our local budding artists have been winners in the last three yearly contests.  This year’s winners will receive a $250 Amex gift card, an additional $250 gift card for their school to help fund art supplies and a Scooby-Doo prize pack.  The artwork will also be custom framed and will appear on the Fastframe website for the month of May 2012.

Artist Exhibit for Alzheimer’s

Details:  Irwin Wiener is an artist whose work is on display for a highly personal reason.  His art is abstract and “very powerful and emotional” with an almost 3D effect.  His wife of more than 40 years was recently diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s and proceeds from sales will go directly to the Alzheimer Foundation of America.  Read more in a story on the KHTS website.  

COC “Children’s Play Day”

Taste Of The Town – tickets

Santa Clarita Dodger Day-Deadline coming, purchase tickets now
When:  Saturday, April 27 at 6:10pm – last day to purchase tickets is April 17 at noon (by mail – April 10)
Where:  Dodger Stadium
Details:  This year marks the 36th annual City of Santa Clarita Dodger Day.   The Dodgers will be playing the Milwaukee Brewers.  The first 40,000 fans will get a Dodgers sports bag.  Mail-in orders must be postmarked April 10.  The last day to purchase tickets at the Aquatic Center is Wednesday, April 17 at noon, or until quantities last.  The Aquatics Center is located at 20850 Centre Pointe Parkway (at Green Valley Parkway).  Order forms are available by clicking here
