SCV Home & Business Expo Street Fair

Where:  Main Street, Old Town Newhall
Details:  The SCV Chamber of Commerce “SCV Home & Business Expo Street Fair” is coming back to Old Town Newhall and KHTS AM-1220 will be there.  There will be something for every member of the family to enjoy and it is free.  Vendors will have a wide variety of products and services.  New this year will be the Green House featuring products and services that are green, eco-friendly, organic and environmentally minded.  Learn more about earthquake preparedness at the Shakey Quakey School House.  There will be an organic farmer’s market and Candyland Carnival.  More information is available by calling 661-702-6977 or online. 

Cabrillo Music Theatre “Kiss Me, Kate”

Repertory East Playhouse “God Of Carnage”
When:  through October 18 – Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 2pm
Where:  Repertory East Playhouse, 24266 Main Street, Old Town Newhall
Details:  Repertory East Playhouse has the production “God of Carnage”.  The play was a Tony Award winning Broadway hit.  The story is based around two couples who get together to discuss the problem of their sons getting into a fight.  The evening results in chaos.  Rated REP-13 for adult language and content.  Theater doors and Hideaway Bar open at 7pm on Fridays and Saturdays.  For Sunday Matinees, the doors and Bar opens at 1pm.  Tickets are $25 for Adults and $20 for Students/Seniors.  Tickets and more information are available online.

Details:  Canyon Theatre Guild has the “thrilling whodunit” “Dial M For Murder.  “The story centers around a man who marries his wife for her money, and plans to murder her for the same reason.  Things don’t always work out according to plan and in this case, the murderer gets murdered, the victim survives, and the audience is in for an evening of thrills and suspense.”  Tickets range from $12-17.  More information is available by calling 661-799-2702 or online.

Details:  “The Miracle Worker” is being performed at the Canyon Theatre Guild.  “’The Miracle Worker’ is the touching, true story of two amazing women: Helen Keller, a child who can neither see, nor hear, and her teacher Anne Sullivan who refuses to believe that Helen’s mind and spirit have to remain trapped in silence.  Annie and Helen struggle through a period of intense physical and emotional turmoil until success finally comes to Annie when Helen finally utters a single, glorious word: water.”  Tickets range from $12-17.  More information is available by calling 661-799-2702 or online. 

Lombardi Ranch Halloween Festival
When:  starting now
Where:  29527 Bouquet Canyon Road, just south of Vasquez
Details: Get into the spirit of the changing seasons at Lombardi Ranch.  Lombardi Ranch has been a staple in Santa Clarita for over 30 years, especially at pumpkin time.  Lombardi Ranch is a working farm offering seasonal produce for sale, in addition to Halloween pumpkins. Enjoy Scarecrow Alley, live bands, petting zoos, wagon rides, face paintings, and more.  Bake sales happen every weekend by various Santa Clarita organizations.  As every Santa Clarita school age child knows, no little one leaves empty handed.  There are balloons, stickers and candy for each little hand.  The Lombardi Ranch Scarecrow Alley is an enjoyable and sometimes scary, walk through the corn fields.  Come to the Ranch and you’ll be sure to be humming the everlasting Lombardi Ranch song by David Reeves Carpenter. Free parking and admission.  More information is available online.   

Soroptimist “Wine Affair”
When:  Sunday, October 20 from 2-6pm
Where:  Town Center Drive at the Valencia Town Center
Details:  Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita asks, “Do you love wine, great appetizers and entertainment? Then you’ll love this…Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita’s annual “Sip, Stroll and Savor the Sounds…The Wine Affair.”  Enjoy delicious tasting, great music and socializing at the many venues along Town Center Drive at the ValenciaTownCenter.  The event is in support of women’s health issues.  Individual tickets are $50.  More information is available online.

Brittany Foundation “A Day In Their Paws”
When:    Saturday, October 19 for 24 hours
Where:  Brittany Foundation, corner of Sierra Highway and Anthony Road, Agua Dulce
Details:  The Brittany Foundation is holding a special fundraiser “Day In Their Paws” where “compassionate volunteers raise funds by living in a kennel for up to 24 hours with the homeless dog of their choice to raise awareness of how shelter dogs live day after day.”  “Day in Their Paws” will also have live music, rock-n-roll memorabilia, a silent auction and raffle, free candy for trick-or-treaters, plus refreshments and baked goods.  A special surprise guest is planned.   A Halloween themed open house will also take place from noon-4pm on Saturday, October 19.  Brittany Foundation is a no-kill sanctuary for seniors and special needs dogs.  More information is available by calling 661-713-5240, email Brittany_dogs@yahoo.com, or online.

City Of Santa Clarita “Underwater Pumpkin Carving & Spooking Family Fair”
When:  Saturday, October 19 at 6pm
Where:  Santa Clarita Aquatic Center, 20850 Centre Pointe Parkway at Golden Valley Parkway
Details:  The City of Santa Clarita is holding their 6^th Annual “Underwater Pumpkin Carving & Spooking Family Fair”.  Watch as teams of SCUBA divers carve pumpkins 12 feet under water.  Kids can enjoy game & crafts.  This is a family friendly event where kids are encouraged to wear costumes.  There will be carnival games, face painting and tick-or-treating.  More information is available by calling 661-250-3767 or online. 

Vayu Yoga “Marathon Runners Training”

Details:  The Santa Clarita Scout Expo is a free event featuring activities for kids.  Kids can participate in crafts, first aid, games, egg drop contest, robotics, obstacle course, cooking demos and more.  This is a family fun event for boys and girls of all ages.    Look for the large Indian tee-pee along Soledad Canyon Road. 

City Of Santa Clarita SENSES
When:  Thursday, October 17 from 7-11pm
Where:  Main Street, Old Town Newhall
Details:  The City of Santa Clarita’s “Senses” is held every third Thursday. SENSES is designed to heighten your sense of sight, smell, touch, taste and sound.   This free event has a planned theme every month.  This month’s theme is “Chills and Thrills”.  Main Street will turn into a free block party with live music, entertainment, interactive activities, art displays, giveaways and more, all based around the month’s theme.  More information is available online.

Zonta LifeForward Workshop

SCAA Annual Art Classic

Details:  The Santa Clarita Artist Association is hosting their 24^th annual fundraiser “Art Classic”:  There will be professionally judged artwork of over 200 local artists.  The afternoon will have musical entertainment, wine, appetizers and a meet & greet with the artists.  The artwork will be on display for a free public viewing on Sunday, October 20 from 10am-4pm.  Tickets for the Art Classic are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.  More information is available online.

Santa Clarita Haunted Jailhouse & Carnival
When:  Sunday, October 27 from 11am-4pm
Where:  Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, 23740 Magic Mountain Parkway, Valencia
Details:  The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station is hosting 24^th Annual Santa Clarita Haunted Jailhouse & Carnival.  The events will have Sheriff’s Department displays, costume contests, clowns, moon bounces, games, food and music.  The Haunted Jailhouse & Carnival is a family friendly safe celebration of Halloween. A $1 donation is requested to enter.  The event is sponsored by the SCV Sheriff’s Station, SCV Boys & Girls Club, SCV Newhall Optimist Club, and supported by the City of Santa Clarita.  Proceeds benefit the SCV Boys & Girls Club.
