Help The Children SCV-Giveaway To Veterans
When:  Saturday, April 6 from 11am-1pm
Where:  American Legion Post 507, 24527 Spruce Street, Newhall (next to the new Old Town Newhall Library)
Details:  Help the Children has been serving children and their families in need in the United States and around the world for more than 13 years.  And now, Help the Children SCV  is honoring our veterans and active military with a Giveaway.  They have rounded up donations from Home Depot – everything from tools to grills – and will be giving them away.  Proof of military service must be provided.  Donations will be given out on a first come, first serve basis.  If you find yourself in a position to help Help the Children with monetary donations or food donations, please call 661-702-8852 or online.

Lancaster Performing ArtsCenter “Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs”

Canyon Theatre Guild “Hairspray”

Details:  The City of Santa Clarita holds Art SLAM the first Thursday of every month.  At Art SLAM you can enjoy interactive art happenings featuring local and regional visual artists, performers and more.  This week featured artists use recycled, re-purposed and raw materials. Details:  The City of Santa Clarita wants to know what we think.  If you have thoughts on City issues, projects, programs or services, the City needs your input on how to communicate residents.  The City is surveying to learn how residents want to be communicated with, when, where and on what types of issues.  The surveys will be analyzed and used in the creation of a new public participation plan to be prepared later this year, in collaboration with us, the community.  Read a KHTS story on the City’s campaign.  Take a few minutes for an online survey and Tell The City.  And, since you are reading it here, please don’t forget to include KHTS!

Household Hazardous Waste Round Up

Where:  College of the Canyon, Valencia Campus, South Parking Lot, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Valencia
Details:  The City of Santa Clarita and Los Angeles County are helping us with Spring cleaning with a Household Hazardous Waste Round Up.  Household Hazardous Waste is any product labeled toxic, poison, combustible, corrosive, flammable or irritant.  In our homes, these products are typically used for cleaning, painting, lubricating and disinfection the house, yard, workshop or garage.  There is a limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds of hazardous waste per trip.  A full list of items allowed is online

KHTS 4th Annual SCV Home & Garden Show
When:  Saturday, April 27 from 9am-5pm and Sunday, April 28 from 10am-4pm
Where:  Hyatt Regency Valencia, 24500 Town Center Drive at McBean Parkway
Details:  The KHTS 4th Annual SCV Home & Garden Show and Emergency Expo are coming back to town.  The Home & Garden show is a two-day event featuring free admission, free parking, a wide-variety of exhibitors, drawings, special offers and freebies, presentation and demonstrations, RV show, Kid’s Zone and more.  Take part in the PassPort program to win prizes.  On Saturday the KHTS Emergency Expo, in cooperation with the City of Santa Clarita  and Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital  will take place in the parking lot.  The Emergency Expo will have over 60 exhibitors with products, services and information on emergency prevention, preparedness, survival and recovery.  The Expo will have emergency vehicles and equipment from fire departments, law enforcement, search & rescue groups, and utility companies.  The Expo will also feature drills, demonstrations and presentation.  This show is a KHTS AM-1220 event in conjunction with High Impact Event Resources.  A full list of participants is available online More information is available by calling 661-298-1220 or SCVHomeandGarden.com  

Taste Of The Town – tickets

Where:  Mann Biomedical Park, 25104 Rye Canyon Loop, near Copperhill and Kelly Johnson Parkway
Details:  Child & FamilyCenter’s premier event is Taste of the Town.  Over 40 restaurants and caterers serve up all the food you can eat, all the wine and beer you can drink, plus entertainment, silent and live auctions in a beautiful garden setting.  Tickets are $65 for general admission and $100 reserved seating (presale only).  This event is adults only.  KHTS is selling the general admission tickets. California Strawberry Festival – tickets
When:  Saturday, May 18 from 10am-6:30pm and Sunday, May 19 from 10am-6:30pm
Where:  Strawberry Meadows of College Park, 3250 South Rose Avenue, Oxnard

Santa Clarita Dodger Day-Deadline coming, purchase tickets now
When:  Saturday, April 27 at 6:10pm – last day to purchase tickets is April 17 at noon (by mail – April 10)
Where:  Dodger Stadium
Details:  This year marks the 36th annual City of Santa Clarita Dodger Day  The Dodgers will be playing the Milwaukee Brewers.  The first 40,000 fans will get a Dodgers sports bag.  Mail-in orders must be postmarked April 10.  The last day to purchase tickets at the AquaticCenter is Wednesday, April 17 at noon, or until quantities last.  The AquaticsCenter is located at 20850 Centre Pointe Parkway (at Green Valley Parkway).  Order forms are available by clicking here
