SCV Youth Project – Sweet Charity Cake Auction
When:  Saturday, March 2 from 6:30pm to 10pm
Where:  Tournament Players Club, 26550 Heritage View Drive, Stevenson Ranch
Details:  The SCV Youth Project is holding their 5th Annual Sweet Charity Cake Auction.  This event features uniquely inspired and decorated cakes that reflect a business or organizations theme which is paired with individualized products, gifts and/or services.  Auction guests bid on the cakes.  Cakes will be awarded prizes based on their originality, creativity, and the cake that raises the most money.  A new category has been added for 2013 – Novice, for those who have never designed a cake before.  Jillian Barberie, “Good Day LA” news anchor, will be a guest judge.  Click here to see photographs from the 2012 Sweet Charity Cake Auction.  Tickets are $45 and be purchased online. 

Habitat Hearts for Heroes – The Builders Ball 2013
When:  Friday, March 1 from 6am to 10pm
Where:  Sheraton Universal Hotel, 333 Universal Drive, Universal City
Details:  Habitat for Humanity San Fernando/Santa Clarita  will be presenting their Hammer of Hope Award to KHTS AM-1220 owners Carl and Jeri Goldman, and the Southern California Gas Company at their Builders Ball.  Each year the Builders Ball recognizes the contributions and accomplishment of corporations and civic leaders.  This year’s event focuses on work with veterans through the Habitat for Heroes.  More information and tickets are available online.

Silver Spur Award – Barry and Pati Gump
When:  Saturday, March 2 beginning at 6pm
Where:  Globe Theater, located inside Universal Studios Hollywood
Details:  Barry and Pati Gump are recipients of this year’s College of the Canyons Foundation Silver Spur Community Service Award.  They are being recognized for their passionate support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and other Santa Clarita projects and charities.  The evening is ‘black tie optional’ and includes live entertainment, a studio tour; a cocktail party on the park’s British themed Baker Street and catered by Wolfgang Puck Catering.  For more information call the College of the Canyons Foundation at 661-362-3737

Fat Burning Secrets Lifestyle Class

St. Clare Lenten Fish Fry

Details:  St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church is holding Fish Fries this Lenten season.  The dinners include beer battered Alaska cod, French fries or rice pilaf, homemade coleslaw, fresh rolls and coffee, tea or milk.  Dessert and other beverages are available for purchase.  Dinners are available for eat-in or take-out.  Prices are $8.50 for a 2-piece dinner and $9.50 for a 3-piece dinner.  All proceeds benefit the community programs for the needy. 

Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival Fundraiser
When:  Friday, March 1 at 6pm
Where:  Festival’s temporary home in Valencia
Details:  The Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival will be touring local high schools this spring with a presentation of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”.  There will be a special Sneak Preview night that will feature wine, hors d’oeuvres and a special performance of “Romero and Juliet” with all proceeds going to support the tour and educational outreach efforts.  Tickets are $35 per person.  For tickets call Mary Ferguson at 661-799-3378 or at outreach@scshakespearefest.org.  In an effort to support the tour, Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival has launched the “Keep Romeo and Juliet ALIVE” campaign.  Sponsorships are available at all levels, from Festival Title Sponsor at $4,000, individual school sponsorships of $650, or other amounts determined by the donor’s generosity.
