Citrus Classic Balloon Festival
When:  Friday, July 26 from 4-11pm; Saturday, July 27 from 6:30am-11pm and Sunday, July 28 from 6:30am-4pm
Where:  off Highway 126 at 18249 E. Telegraph Road, Santa Paula
Details:  The 6th Annual Citrus Classic Balloon  Festival is back and better than ever.  The festival features live music, Ag Alley, Kids Fun Zone, food vendors, Arts & Crafts, Beer Garden, plane fly-bys, skydivers, carnival rides and so much more.  There is even an opportunity for hot air balloon rides.  All ages will enjoy the festival.  Friday evening kicks off with the Evening Balloon Glow and their Sunset Wine Dinner (separate tickets/advance purchase only).  Saturday evening there is a new addition to the Festival, the “Craft Beer Dinner”. This dinner is al fresco dining featuring a four-course dinner paired with craft beers.  Seating is at 6pm with the Evening Balloon Glow starting at 8pm.  During dinner enjoy live musical entertainment, fly-bys, aerobatic stunts and sky divers.  A flyer and full menu is available online  When ordering tickets, please punch in KHTS and $20 will go to our local Santa Clarita Veterans Programs through Habitat and the Santa Clarita Child & Family Center.  Tickets for the “Craft Beer Dinner” are only available online.  More information on the Festival is available online.  KHTS is selling festival admission tickets for $4 at our studio at 27225 CampPlenty, Ste 8 in Canyon Country at the intersection of Soledad and Camp Plenty.

Santa Clarita Regional Theatre “Les Miserables
When:  Saturdays at 8pm on: July 27, August 3, 10; Sundays at 2pm on: July 28, August 4, 11
Where:  Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center , 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, on the COC Valencia campus
Details:  Santa Clarita Regional Theatre has the international smash-hit musical “Les Miserable”.  “Epic, grand and uplifting, Les Miserables packs an emotional wallop that has thrilled audiences for over 27 years.”  Tickets are $12-$29 depending on seat location.  Tickets are available by calling the Santa Clarita Regional Theatre box office at the Canyon Theatre Guild at 799-2702. Sanctuary Church “Discover YOUniversity”
When:  Monday, July 29 to Friday, August 2
Where:  Sanctuary Church, 26444 Friendly Valley Parkway – near Sierra Highway
Details:  Sanctuary Church is holding “Discover YOUniversity”, a series of workshops for learning and having fun at the same time.  Children can choose from drama, karate, art, soccer, cheerleading, animation, cooking, guitar and ceramics.  Classes are for children ages 6-13.  Classes meet from 6:30-8:30pm for five nights.  Classes are $50 per child and $35 for each additional child in the same family.  On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday parents can attend free classes on family budgets and finances, ready preparedness, and first aid and health.  Register online,  by mail or in person.  For more information call 661-252-7255.

Repertory East Playhouse “9-5: the Musical”
When:  now through August 17 – Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sunday Matinees at 2pm
Where:  Repertory East Playhouse, 24266 Main Street, Old Town Newhall
Details:  The Repertory East Playhouse brings us “9-5: the Musical” based on the 1980s movie.  The book was written by Patricia Resnick.  Music and lyrics for the musical were written by Dolly Parton.  The show centers on the friendship of three women who work in the same large corporation. They are pushed over the edge by their sexist, egotistical, lying boss. “Working 9-5, what a way to make a living.”  More information and tickets are available by calling 288-0000 or online

Cabrillo Music Theatre “Legally Blonde, The Musical”
When:  Thursday, July 25 at 7:30pm;  Fridays at 8pm on July 26;  Saturdays at 2pm on July 27;  Saturdays at 8pm on July 27; Sundays at 2pm on July 28
Where:  Cabrillo Music Theatre, 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard, Thousand Oaks
Details:  Cabrillo Music Theatre  has the musical based on the hit movie “Legally Blonde”, a “dazzling, energetic and funny musical, nominated for seven Tony Awards.  With Cabrillo Music Theatre’s excellent reputation, “Legally Blonde, The Musical” is sure to become a family favorite.  More information, directions and tickets are available by calling 805-449-2775 or online.  

Concerts In The Park
When:  Saturday, July 26 from 7-11pm 
Where:  Central Park, 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road, Saugus
Details:  The City of Santa Clarita is bringing back the popular free concert series “Concerts In The Park”.  This week’s concert of the summer is the tribute band “Platinum Groove”.  “This band delivers a refreshing variety of high-energy dance band music, which will have fans grooving in the aisles all night long.  Styles of music performed include: classic rock, swing, disco, new wave 80s, top 40o current dance, funk, Motown, R&B, jazz, and oldies.  When asked what kind of music they play, the respond, ‘What kind do you like?’”  Directions, rules of the park and more information are available online

“SummerFest – Hair, The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical”
When:  Saturday, July 27; Sunday, July 28; Thursday, August 1; and Friday, August 2 – shows at 8pm     
Where:  Rivendale at Towsley Canyon, 24255 The Old Road, Santa Clarita
Details:  Enjoy Shakespeare, music and/or theatre under the stars of Rivendale at Towsley Canyon all summer long.  Previous summers saw the Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival producing weekend performances.  This year they have expanded the festival to include other local groups.  The Festival is now called “L.A. SummerFest at Rivendale”.  The summer line up will include free and ticketed events:  Henry IV, Spare Tone-Smooth Jazz Under the Stars, Hair-The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical, SCV Concert Band performing Billy Shakespeare vs Billy Joel, and more.  Next up is the “Hair, The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical”.  Bring chairs and/or blankets, picnics or snacks, and a sweater or jacket (the canyon cools after the sun goes down).  Wine will be available at all events.  Donations will be accepted and appreciated.  Tickets are required for this event.  More information, directions and ticket information (including a half-price offer) is available online.

City of Santa Clarita “Senses
When:  Thursday, July 27 from 7-11pm
Where:  Main Street in OldTown Newhall
Details:  The City of Santa Clarita holds “Senses” every third Thursday. SENSES is designed to heighten your sense of sight, smell, touch, taste and sound.  The theme this week is “On the Boardwalk”.  Main Street will be filled with tons of sand to help round out this summer theme.  There will be a Beach Fashion Show.  There will be a mechanical surf board and acrobatic exhibitions.  Main Street will turn into a block party with live music, entertainment, interactive activities, art displays, giveaways and more.  

World’s Largest Bunco Tournament
When:  Saturday, July 27 at 3:30pm for registration, dinner and auction; game begins at 4:45pm
Where:  College of the Canyons Valencia Campus, main gym, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Valencia
Details:  Be a part of a record breaking World’s Largest Bunco Tournament while supporting Santa Clarita and Tri-Valley Special Olympics.  The goal is for at least 400 Bunco players.  The Tournament includes dinner, the game, prizes, auction and entertainment.  Prizes will be awarded for 1st Bunco, Least Buncos, Most Buncos, Last Bunco, Most Scratches, Highest Score, Lowest Score, Most Wins, Most Losses and Equal Wins/Losses.  There is a luau them to the evening so pull out your Hawaiian shirts, grass skirts, flower leis and coconut shells.  More information is available online.

Summer Hair Fun With “Extensions of Love

Where:  Beyond The Fringe Salon, 23424 Lyons Avenue, Newhall
Details:  Get an extra kick of summer fun with a colorful hair extension from the “Extensions of Love” program.  Extensions are $10 and funds raised will be donated to the Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project that provides peer mentoring, crisis intervention, support groups and educational outreach to our local junior high and high school students in need.  Read more in a story on the KHTS website.  To make an appointment please call Renee at 661-618-5205 or Sam 661-478-2881.

City of Santa Clarita “Let’s Go To The Beach!”
When:  Every Saturday and Sunday now through September 1
Where:  From Santa Clarita to Santa MonicaBeach
Details:  The City of Santa Clarita has the “Let’s go to the beach!” program again this summer.  There are Santa Clarita Transit buses that go from four different locations around the valley. Ride to the beach with ease on the City’s comfortable, air-conditioned commuter express buses.  You can bring beach chairs, coolers and even surfboards.  You could make plans to spend Saturday night in Santa Monica then take the bus back the next day.  Bus fares are $3.00 each way for children and adults.  Seniors over age 60 and persons with disabilities pay $1.50 each way and persons with disabilities.  Exact cash or TAP cards only.  Persons under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult.  Unaccompanied minors must bring valid school ID to verify age.  For large group accommodations, please call at least five business days in advance.  More information on routes, pick-up location and more is available by calling 294-1BUS or online.

Academy Swim Club – Swim Lessons

Where:  Academy Swim Club, 28079 Smyth Drive, Valencia
Details:  Academy Swim Club has swim lessons for kids of all ages.  The kids learn in a heated pool while parents can watch from an air-conditioned viewing area.  Academy Swim Club has lessons available for small groups, semi-private or private for ages two weeks through adults.  There is ‘open’ swim practice time for all students.  All lessons are guaranteed.  Keep your kids safe around water by signing them up for swim lessons.  More information is available by calling 702-8585 or online.

Circle of Hope “Vine2Wine Classic”
When:  Saturday, August 17 from 6:30-10:30pm
Where:  California Institute of the Arts, Main Gallery, 24700 McBean Parkway, Valencia
Details: The 12th Annual Circle of Hope  “Vine2Wine Classic” is a much anticipated event.  The Classic features “unlimited tastings of several hundred upscale wines poured by dozens of outstanding wineries and by donors or fabulous and rare, older, “library wines” from their personal cellars.”  The Beer Garden has unlimited tastings of over a dozen craft brews.  The evening includes dinner and live entertainment.    This year there will be a raffle of expensive, rare and desirable wines, a silent auction of current and older vintages of wine, and much more.  100% of the funds raised benefit Circle of Hope assists uninsured and underinsured breast cancer patients and their families in the Santa Clarita Valley with financial, emotional and educational support services. Canyon Theatre Guild “Why Do Fools Fall In Love?”
When: Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm:  July 27, August 3, 10, 16, 17, 23 and 24;  Sundays at 2pm:  July 28, August 4, 11, 18 and 25
Where:  Canyon Theatre Guild, 24242 Main Street, Old Town Newhall
Details:  Canyon Theatre Guild  has the ‘rockin’ 60s bachelorette musical’ “Why Do Fools Fall In Love?”.  “Sally, Florence and Dee Dee show up unannounced (food and wine in hand) for an impromptu bachelorette party to celebrate Millie’s upcoming nuptials.”    As the play continues we view life in the 60s with classic songs such as, My Boy Lollipop, I Will Follow Him, You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me, Hey There Lonely Boy, Why Do Fools Fall In Love, and many more.  Tickets are $15 to $17 for juniors and seniors and $17 to $19 for adults.  Tickets are available by calling 661-799-2702.  More information and directions are available online.
