Golden Valley High School Band “The International Sonora Tropical Show”
When:  Friday, May 31 at 7pm
Where:  Golden Valley High School, 27051 Robert C. Lee Parkway (near Golden Valley Parkway and Sierra Highway)
Details:  Get your dance shoes ready!  Golden Valley High School Band Boosters are hosting a benefit concert starring Carlos Quintana and The International Sonora Show with an orchestra of professional singers and musicians performing the popular international dance music.  Quintana is a supporter of music education and is excited to promote multi-cultural music in Santa Clarita.  The La Internacional Sonora Tropical Show will be performing with the Golden Valley High School band and members of the Hart District Honor Bands.  Proceeds benefit the Hart District Honor Bands.  Information and tickets are available online with KHTS or online with Golden ValleyHigh School band.

Boys & Girls Club “ Rock On! – Annual Benefit Auction”
When:  Saturday, June 1, doors open at 5pm
Where:  27460 Avenue Scott in the Valencia Industrial Park
Details: “Rock On!” at the Boys & Girls Club 42nd Annual Benefit Auction.  The Boys & Girls Club Auction will celebrate with classic rock. Guests are encouraged to dress in classic rock attire to match the Elvis, The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Red Hot Chili Peppers musical entertainment.  As always, there will be live and silent auctions with a wide variety of exciting items for bid.  There will be dinner from Salt Creek Grille and buffet from Wolf Creek Restaurant & Brewing Company The doors will open at 5pm and dinner will be served at 6pm.  The live auction should start at 7:30pm.  Tickets are $25 per couple for general admission.  Reservations for dinner at the event are $85 per person and tables start at $650.  More information is available by calling 254-3063 or online.

Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center  “An Evening Of Classic Lily Tomlin”

Canyon Theatre Guild “The Fox On The Fairway”

Where:  Canyon Theatre Guild, 24242 Main Street, Old Town Newhall
Details:  Canyon Theatre Guild has the Ken Ludwig high comedy “The Fox on the Fairway”.  “The Fox on the Fairway is the playwright’s tribute to the great English farces of the 1930s and 1940s.  It takes audiences on a hilarious romp which pulls the rug out from underneath the stuffy denizens of a private country club.  Filled with mistaken identities, slamming doors, and over-the-top romantic shenanigans, it’s a furiously paced comedy that recalls the Marx Brothers’ classics.”  KHTS has a special connection with “The Fox on the Fairway”, KHTS’ own wildly entertaining Morning Man, George Cummings is the male lead in the comedy.  Tickets are $12 and $15.  Tickets are available by calling 799-2702.  More information and directions are available online.  

Harry Bell Memorial Fund Poker Run
When:  Saturday, June 1, registration runs from 8-9am
Where:  Elks Lodge, 17766 Sierra Highway
Details:  The Santa Clarita Valley Rotary and the Santa Clarita Elks Lodge are holding the First Annual Harry Bell Memorial Fund Poker Run.  There will be raffle prizes, food and fun.  Music will be provided by “Sierra Highway”.  Registration is $25 and includes a Tri-Tip lunch and one extra playing card.  The event benefits veterans programs, including SCV Habitat for Heroes.  For more information call 609-6762.

Real Life Church – Arts Underground

SCVi  Charter School “Kids Create Art” Festival

Details:  SCVi Charter School invites us to their annual “Kids Create Art” Festival.  The school classrooms will be turned into art galleries and projects that are part of the core curriculum will be on display.  Student performers will reenact portions of the Civil War.  There will also be theatrical excerpts from the “Bard is Back” and a Nori Korean Traditional Percussion performance.  Expect food trucks, hand-on reptile show, martial arts demonstrations and carnival booths.  Handcrafted items made by school ‘learners’ will be available in the Young Entrepreneurs Fair.  More information is available by calling 705-4820 or online.

Thunder On The Lot

Where:  Antelope Valley Fairgrounds, 
Details:  This year marks the 19th year for Thunder On The Lot.  The event is a huge motorcycle show, custom/classic car show, low rider show, import car show, natural gas vehicles show, green energy exhibit, drifting races, and stunt farm/motorcycle stunt show.  There will be a carnival and over 100 vendors.  On Saturday, the main stage will feature MLC, Jason Scott, Judge Jackson and Great White.  The Car Show Stage will feature L’Insanity, Angeles Band, Jay Gordon & Blues Venom, and Bullfrogg Blues Band with special guest Mo Grundy.  You’ll have a chance at winning a brand new Harley Davidson bike, a $25,000 in-ground swimming pool and much more.  KHTS is selling tickets to Saturday’s Thunder On The Lot by coming into the station or online. Canyon Theatre Summer Youth Workshops

Details:  Canyon Theatre Guild
Has Summer Youth Workshops for kids ages 6-10, 10-13 and 13-17.  The CTG Kids Ages 6-10 teaches kids to sing, dance and act.  There are three two-week sessions to choose from starting June 24.  On the last day of class there is a free performance of “The Emperor’s New Clothes” for friends and family.  CTG Juniors Ages 10-13 has two three-week sessions to choose from starting June 24.  These Junior sessions teaches kids to sing, dance, act, and learn theatre games, history and terminology.   On the last day of class there is a free performance of the musical “Kamp Kaos” for friends and family.  CTG Stars Ages 13-17 has one five-week session.  At the end of this session there are four performances of “Thoroughly Modern Millie Junior”.  Admission will be $8 and $10, with a 20% sibling discount.  More information is available by calling 799-2702 or online

Ice Station Valencia – Registration for Summer Camp

Details:  Ice Station Valencia has the Coolest Camp in Santa Clarita.  Kidtastic runs from June 17-August 9, Monday through Friday.  Kidtastic offers ice skating lessons, crafts and games.  Polar Bears (ages 7-12) and Penguins (ages 4-6) participate in broomball, introduction to speed skating and hockey, play in the snow, and more.  Every Friday, both Penguins and Polar Bears compete in Ice Station Valencia Winter Olympics.  For more information call 661-775-8686 or online.
