Boys & Girls Club “Festival Of Trees”

When:  November 15 through November 24 – see special event days/dates below
Where:  Westfield Valencia Town Center – between The Patios and Sears on Valencia Boulevard
Details: Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley is holding their premier event “Festival of Trees”.  Christmas trees, wreaths and table top trees are elaborately decorated and available for auction.  There is a special section for gingerbread houses that are made by community members and awarded prizes before being offered for auction.  A Community Stage has local singers, musicians and dancers.  Santa will be available for photos.  Jingle Jam Swing  will be held Friday, November 15 from 7:15-10pm.  Jingle Jam Swing is a fun night of swing dancing, with an instructor giving free lessons.  Holiday Hocus Pocus an Evening of Magic takes place on Saturday, November 16 at 6pm and Friday, November 22 at 6pm.  The Holiday Hocus Pocus shows are an hour of close-up magic followed by a family friendly stage show that is fun for children and adults.  The Magic of Lights Gala takes place Saturday, November 23 from 6:30-11:30pm.  The dressy Gala features entertainment, a live auction of selected trees, appetizers, dessert and a no-host bar.  Read more in a story for KHTS by Michele Buttelman: Family-Friendly Festival of Trees Opens Friday At The Patios In Valencia

Choices In Education Expo

When:  Saturday, November 23 from 10am-5pm
Where:  Hyatt Regency Valencia, 24500 Town Center Drive – at McBean Parkway
Details:  The Choices In Education Expo is focused on education options for you and your family.  The Expo will help you make decisions on life changing academic choices.  The Expo will cover: public and private school options; early childhood and pre-school child development; after-school educational daycare (including tutoring and supplemental learning programs); camps, academies and sports training; educational products and services; local educational resources; educational finance options and scholarships; advance academic and vocational programs; and life-long learning opportunities.  More information is available by calling 255-7063 or online.

Repertory East Playhouse “Play It Again, Sam”

When:  November 15 through December 14, Friday and Saturdays at 8pm, Sunday Matinees at 2pm
Where:  Repertory East Playhouse, 24266 Main Street in Old Town Newhall
Details:  Repertory East Playhouse has Woody Allen’s “Play It Again, Sam”.  “It’s still the same old story, a fight for love and glory.”  The play is about a recently divorced writer of film commentary that is being urged to date again by his best friend and his best friend’s wife.  Come an hour before the show and stop at The Hideaway Lounge featuring full-service cocktails.  Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for students and seniors.  Tickets and information on the Opening Night Gala are available online

Lancaster Performing Arts Center “An Evening With Martin Short”

Details:  Lancaster Performing Arts Center has “An Evening With Martin Short”.  “See one of America’s premier funny men in a hilarious one-man show. Jack’s Very Big Music Benefit

When:  Sunday, November 24 from 4-8pm
Where:  West Ranch High School, 26255 Valencia Boulevard, Stevenson Ranch
Details:  Jack’s Very Big Music Benefit will feature classical, contemporary, rock and roll, and “Jack’s Young Artists”.  Local professional world-class musicians and talented young artists will perform at the Benefit.  The evening supports Jack’s Angels Foundation for awareness, support and research for Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, a pediatric brainstem tumor.  More information, a full line up of music and performers, and tickets are available online.

College Of The Canyons Theatre “Of Mice And Men”

Bridge To Home “Soup For The Soul & Open House”

When:  Sunday, November 24 from 3-5:30pm
Where:  Bridge To Home, 23031 Drayton Street, off of San Fernando Road – street across from Saugus Cafe
Details:  Enjoy a unique fundraiser at Bridge to Home and you will be helping those less fortunate.  Local restaurants and bakeries are providing a variety of soups, breads and desserts.  Receive a one-of-a-kind bowl that has been hand painted by children and special friends in our valley.  Proceeds will support the Santa Clarita Emergency Winter Shelter.  Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door.  Last year Santa Clarita Emergency Winter Shelter served 234 people: 151 single men, 36 single women, and 10 families including 17 adults and 20 children, and 24 veterans.      More information and tickets are available by calling 257-9970 or 388-0081 or online.

Go Jazz Big Band Concert

Jacob Zamora Memorial Shoot

When:   Saturday, November 23 from 8am-4pm, registration from 8-10am  
Where:  Oak Tree Gun Club, 23121 Coltrane Avenue, Newhall
Details:  The Jacob Zamora Sports Clays Memorial Shoot is an annual event that supports the Jacob Zamora Memorial Foundation and their work with CHP Explorer Post 540, and education scholarships.  Registration begins at 8am and is open to all.  The top shooter will win a Benelli Super Nova shotgun.  Registrants receive a t-shirt and lunch.  Non-shooters are welcome.  Food, t-shirts, and raffle tickets will be available for purchase.  Entry is $60 for adults and $30 for youth.  More information on the shoot and Jacob Zamora is available by calling 212-3465 or online.

Gingerbread House Contest

Details:  The Friends of the Santa Clarita Public Library will be holding their “First Annual Gingerbread House Contest”.  Enter and start building now to celebrate the holidays.  Entry deadline is Wednesday, December 4.  This contest is for all ages and skill levels.  It is free to enter.   Enter online or visit your local library.  More information and entry forms are available online.

City Of Santa Clarita “Hot Cocoa & A Movie”

Details:  The City of Santa Clarita is hosting “Breakfast with Santa”.  “Visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus and join them for a wonderful breakfast, holiday stories, crafts, and watch Santa blast off in his Turbo Sleigh.”  Don’t forget to bring your camera for photos with Santa.  Tickets are required for anyone age one and older.  Tickets must be purchased in advance and are $15 per person (non-Santa Clarita residents are $20).  Limited seating, register now at the Activities Center or online.
