Circle Of Hope “Run For Their Lives”

When:  Saturday, April 5 from 7:30am-2pm, walk starts at 9am
Where:  Castaic Lake, Lower Lagoon, 32132 Castaic Lake Drive, Castaic 
Details:  The Circle of Hope “Run For Their Lives” is more than a 5K Run.  The day also includes a Family Fun Zone, People’s Choice Car Show, food & refreshments, vendors, and more.  The Family Fun Zone requires a purchase wristband and includes rock climbing wall, bounce house, inflatable basketball hoops, face painting, and other activities.  The People’s Choice Car Show takes place along the 5K route.  Over 30 vendors have signed up for the event offering goods and services.  You can register your dog for the walk, too.  Circle Of Hope provides financial, emotional, and educational support for breast cancer patients, and their families, here in the Santa Clarita Valley.  More information and registration is available online.

Self-Hypnosis Seminar “Re-Train Your Brain”

When: Sunday, April 6 from 10-11am
Where:  22722 Lyons Avenue, Ste 1, Newhall
Details:  Hypnosis with Abi Carruthers is holding a self-hypnosis seminar: “Re-Train Your Brain.”  Abi asks, “Are you tired of feeling like you’re on a hamster wheel, always moving but never seeming to get anywhere? Are you done with those negative voices in your head? City Of Santa Clarita CERT Training

When:  Thursday, April 3 – seven consecutive Thursdays from 6-9pm each Thursday
Where:  City’s Transit Maintenance Facility, 28250 Constellation Road
Details:  The City of Santa Clarita is offering CERT – Community Emergency Response Training.  This training is a nationally certified course designed to help families, neighborhoods, schools and businesses to prepare for emergency/disaster responses through training and preplanning.  The course includes:  fire suppression/utility control, light search & rescue, triage, medical operations, incident command, terrorism, psychological first aid, and disaster preparedness.  Each class is three hours long.  The cost is $30 for course materials and equipment.  More information and registration is available online.   

Canyon Theatre Guild “Damn Yankees” 

When:  Friday Evenings at 8pm on: April 11, 18 and 25; Saturday Evenings at 8pm on: April 5, 12, 19, 26; Sunday evening at 6pm on April 27; Sunday Matinees at 2pm on April 6 and 13.  
Where:  24242 Main Street, Old Town Newhall

Where:  Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center, on the COC Valencia Campus, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Valencia

Six Flags Magic Mountain “Ride Backwards!”

When:  for a limited time
Where:  SixFlagsMagicMountain, 26101 Magic Mountain Parkway, Valencia

City Of Santa Clarita “Art Slam” 

When:  First Thursdays of the month from 7-10pm
Where:  On Main Street between Market Street and 6th Street, Old Town Newhall
Details:  The city of Santa Clarita holds “Art Slam” every first Thursday of the month.  “Art Slam will feature an open-air gallery that combines the talents of artists, photographer, models, designers and musicians within a theme.  This month the theme is “Cheese.”  ”After several months in the making, the upcoming Art Slam event is finally aged to perfection and guaranteed to thrill cheesemongers of all ages.  From slabs of savory stark-white wonderment to wheels of sharp yellow delicacies, attendees will experience a plethora of culinary masterminds offering cooking demonstrations, free tastings, and wine and cheese pairings that will tantalize anyone’s taste buds.”  More information is available online.  

Vibe Performing Arts Studios Karaoke Coaching & Open Mic Jam

When:  Friday, April 4 from 6:30-9:30pm

Details:  Vibe Performing Arts Studios is offering Karaoke Coaching and Open Mic Jam.  If you love to sing karaoke or would like to try, this is your chance to get some professional coaching.  Vibe instructor Brittney Westover will offer and print out tips for you to take home.  The tips will strengthen your mic and vocal technique, and your stage presence.  These mini lessons are $10 for the entire evening.  The Vibe café will serve up coffee and drinks, plus Bake You Happy desserts.  More information is available by calling 661-255-7464 or online.  

Justin Time Children’s House “Getting Along With Grief”

When:  Monday, March 10 from 7-8:30pm

Kidspace Museum “Nano Days”  

When:  Sunday, April 6 from 10am-5pm
Where:  Kidspace Museum, 480 N Arroyo Boulevard, Pasadena
Details:  Kidspace Museum celebrates children with a wide variety of events.  “Nano Days” is a day of hands-on activities and demonstrations about the wonders of all things “nano.”  “Learn what it means to be nano-scale, explore the different and unexpected properties of materials at nano-scale, see how nanotechnology runs the electronics we use everyday, and find out how nanotechnology is shaping our future.”  The mission of Kidspace is to promote education and enrich the lives of children, families, and the community through interactive experience in science, art, and the humanities.  Explore the Imagination Workshop, Glavin Physics Forest, Digging Deeper Gallery, Nature Exchange, Early Childhood Learning Center, and Outdoor Play area.  Currently the Kidspace Museum is in the middle of the 2014 Butterfly Season through May 4, including Caterpillar Adoption.  Learn more about Kidspace online.    

Agua Dulce Women’s Club “Friday Night Fish Fry”

When:  Friday, April 4 from 5-8pm
Where:  Agua Dulce Women’s Club, 33201 Agua Dulce Canyon Road, Agua Dulce
Details:  The Agua Dulce Women’s Club is again holding their popular and family friendly  “Friday Fish Fry.”  Dinner includes a two piece fish fry dinner with fires, coleslaw and a roll for $8.  The macaroni & cheese plate is $5.  Beer, wine and soda is available at extra cost.  There is an eat-in area or take dinner to-go.  Funds raised will go towards the New Building Fund and support the ADWC in its service to the community.  For more information call 661-268-0371 or email adwclornaleslie@gmail.com.

St. Clare Lenten Fish Fry

When:  Fridays from 4:30-8pm now through April 11
Where:  Saint Clare of Assisi, 19606 Calla Way, Canyon Country
Details:  Lent is here and St. Clare’s is again holding their Lenten Fish Fry.  The dinners include beer battered Alaska cod, French fries or rice pilaf, coleslaw, rolls, and coffee, tea or milk.  Desserts are available for purchase at the Bake Sale table.  Other beverages are available for purchase.  A two-piece dinner is $9 and three-piece for $10.  Meals are dine-in or take-out.  Proceeds benefit the needy in Santa Clarita.

Details:  The Congressional Art Competition is now accepting artwork submissions.  The competition is open to all high school students within the California 25th District represented by Congressman Howard P. “Buck” McKeon.  Read more about the competition, criteria, submission locations and past winners in an article on the KHTS website: Congressional Art Competition Accepting Submissions Until April 21. The judging ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, April 30 at 4pm at FastFrame Valencia.
