Details:  Bundle up the family for the KHTS Holiday Lights Tour. Ice Station Valencia “Family Snow Day”

When:  Sunday, December 29 from 1:30-4:30pm  
Where:  Ice Station Valencia, 67745 N. Smyth Drive, Valencia (across from Valencia High School)
Details:  Ice Station Valencia is holding “Family Snow Day.”  You can have fun in the snow without leaving Santa Clarita.  Ice skate, drink hot cocoa or meet Frosty the Snowman while having family holiday fun.  The Snow Play area will be available from 2-4pm.  Child admission includes Snow Play area on the pond rink (no skates, just tennis shoes), large skating area to ice skate (with skate rentals), hot cocoa, and meeting Frosty.  Sleds will be available but you are welcome to bring your own toys and sleds for snow play.  Child admission (17 years and under) is $12.  Adult admission is free to play and $5 for skate rentals.  More information is available by calling 755-8686 or online

City Of Santa Clarita “Arctic Chill Polar Bear Swim”

When:  Wednesday, January 1 at 9am
Where:  Santa Clarita Aquatic Center,
Details:  The City of Santa Clarita has an extreme way to ring in the New Year with “Arctic Chill Polar Bear Swim.”  Take the plunge an you, too, can be added to the official Santa Clarita Polar Bear Club members list. All polar bears will receive a special commemorative Polar Bear Club gift.  This event is free and spectators are welcome.  Doors open at 8:45am.  Advanced registration is encouraged.  More information is available by calling 250-3761 or online

Vayu Yoga

Details:  Vayu Yoga is participating in a community wide effort to help those in need.  Help by donating canned goods and boxed food items.  All donations will go to Help the Children Santa Clarita. Learn about the collection effort and Vayu Yoga online 

SC Artist Association “Joy To Art”

Details:  The Santa Clarita Artists’ Association presents “Joy To Art!” This is an opportunity to see and purchase special items.  “Small Pieces – Small Prices.  A special holiday selection where all small art prices are $100.  Come in to see one-of-a-kind paintings, art pieces, photography, handmade jewelry and holiday ornaments and more.  Give the gift of art!”  Gallery Hours:  Fridays and Saturdays from 4-10pm, Sundays from 1-7pm.

Details:  Ice Station Valencia has the “coolest camp” in town.  Register now for January camp.  “Kidtastic Winter Wonderland Camp” includes games, crafts and ice skating lessons.  All levels of skaters are welcome.  Various sessions are available with half-days and full-days.  Join for one day or all Winter Break.  More information is available by calling 755-8686 or online 

Wallers Gym Jam Academy “Gymnastics Winter Camp”

Details:  Waller’s Gym Jam Academy is holding their Gymnastics Winter Camp.  Waller’s Gym Jam Academy is owned and directed by 1992 Olympian and 2004 Olympic Coach, Chris Waller and his wife Cindy Waller.  The Gymnastics Winter Camp is for boys and girls ages 18 months and up.  Ages four and up attend from 9am-noon.  Ages six and up attend from 9am-3pm.  More information is available by calling 251-3390 or online. 

Placerita Canyon Natural Area “Volunteer Training”

When:  starting Tuesday, January 7, 2014 from 9am-noon
Where:  Placerita Canyon Natural Area, 19152 Placerita Canyon Road, Newhall
Details:  The Placerita Canyon Natural Area, also known as the Placerita Nature Center, is holding a 9-week training program for “Volunteer-Naturalist.”  Become a Volunteer Naturalist and learn about the natural environment, how to teach children about nature, and how to make a difference in your community.  No special background is needed, just a willingness to attend training and to volunteer at least twice a month.  Classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays for nine weeks.  Topics include native plants, ecology, insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals, geology, history, and interpretive techniques.  The cost of training is $45, which includes all training materials – instruction manual, field guide, T-shirt, and related items.  Other volunteer opportunities are also available.  More information is available by calling 259-7721 or online.

Hart HighSchool E-Waste Disposal Event

When:  Saturday, January 4 from 9am-4pm
Where:  College of the Canyons Valencia Campus,  26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Valencia
Details:  Hart High is holding a free E-Waste Disposal Event to benefit the City of Santa Clarita.   E-Waste is described as anything electronic, but, large appliances are not allowed.  Consider this collection for your old computers, printers, televisions, VCRs, cell phones, fax machine, stereos and electronic games.
