Outlets At Tejon “VIP Preview Party”Outlets at Tejon VIP Preview Party

Where:  Outlets at Tejon,  on the I-5 on the way to Bakersfield in Tejon Ranch
Details:  Shop the Outlets at Tejon and you’ll be donating to local charities.  The Outlets at Tejon are holding a VIP Preview party and KHTS will be there for the celebration.  The VIP party will include exclusive savings, giveaways, and entertainment.  Save 65% at more than 70 brand-name stores, including J. Fiesta Days FestivalFiesta Days

When:  Friday, August 1 from 11am-10pm; Saturday, August 2 from 7am-10pm; Sunday, August 3 from 6am-5:30pm
Where:  Frazier Park, 3.7 miles west of Interstate 5 off on Frazier Mountain Park Road
Details:  Fiesta Days Festival at Frazier Park is celebrating their 47th Annual festival.  The festival is three days of family fun featuring food, artisan and commercial vendors, carnival, parade, family contests and games, talent show and more.  There will be VFW pancake breakfasts, fishing derby, Man of the Mountain Mustache and Beard Contest, Log Sawing Contest, Horseshoe Tournament, and pet show.  Live entertainment will be held all weekend with The Chimpz, Undermine, Bo & The Bluesdrivers, Turn the Page, Bandit, Knucklehead, American Fossil, Yesteryear, Bluegrass Brethren, Katfish and a wide variety of other bands.  Sunday morning there will be Worship in the Park with Pastor Ron Vietti.  Admission and parking is free.  More entertainment, specific schedules and time, vendor information, and directions are available by calling 661-623-2340 or online.  

Canyon Theatre Guild “Shrek, The Musical”

When:  Saturday at 8pm on August 2, 9, 16, and 23; Sunday at 2pm on August 3, 10, 17, and 24
Where:   Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center on the College of the Canyons Valencia Campus, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Valencia  
Details:  Canyon Theatre Guild is kicking off the 2014-2015 season with their Santa Clarita Regional Theatre performances of the family friendly and thoroughly hilarious “Shrek, the Musical.”  “Shrek, the Musical” based on the DreamWorks movie, comes to Santa Clarita.  The musical is a story that most families know and is presented in a new way “full of all-new songs, great dancing and breathtaking scenery.”  Tickets are $12-$29 depending on seat location.  Tickets are on sale at the Canyon Theatre Guild by calling 661-799-2702.  More information is available online.

Concerts In The Park

Concerts In The Park “Hotel California”

When:  Saturdays through August 30, concerts begin at 7pm
Where:  Central Park, 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road, Saugus

NorthPark Community Church “Red, White & Blue Country-Western Hoe-Down & BBQ” NorthPark Community Church

When:  Sunday, August 3 from 6-8pm

Canyon Theatre Guild presents Forever PlaidCanyon Theatre Guild “Forever Plaid”

When:  Fridays at 8pm:  August 15 and 22; Saturdays at 8pm: July 26, August 2, 9, 16, and 23; Sundays at 2pm: July 27, August 3, 10, 17, and 24 
Where:  Canyon Theatre Guild, 24242 Main Street, Old Town Newhall 
Details:  Canyon Theatre Guild has the hilarious “Forever Plaid,” the “most popular and successful ‘jukebox’ musicals ever.”  “Forever Plaid” revolves around four 1950s male singers that are killed in a car crash on the way to their first big concert.  They are given the chance to “fulfill their dreams and perform the show that never was.”  You’ll want to croon along to songs from the show that includes: Heart & Soul, Sixteen Tons, Love Is A Many Splendored Things.  For tickets call the Canyon Theatre Guild Box Office at 661-799-2702.  More information is available online.  

LA SummerFest “International Blues Music Day”

When:  Saturday, August 2 gates open at 4:30pm, performances begin at 5pm 
Where:  Rivendale Park in Towsley Canyon, 24255 The Old Road, Newhall   
Details:  LA SummerFest celebrates the Second Annual “International Blues Music Day.”  Master of Ceremonies and solo artist: Michael Stanton.  Also performing: Chris Banta, Toni Dodd & Southbound Blues, Chuck Strong & SRBQ, and Fortune.  This is a free event with donations accepted.  There will be food trucks, T-shirts, dancing, raffles, silent auctions and more.  This event is suitable for all ages.  Bring a lawn chair and blanket.  The “International Blue Music Day” raises fund for the Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival and the Santa Clarita Valley Blues Society.  More information and directions are available online.   

Lancaster JetHawks

Where: JetHawks stadium “The Hanger”,  45116 Valley Central Way, Lancaster
Details:  The Lancaster JetHawks have started their quest for another California League Title and they want us to be part of the fun.  Friday night home games include fireworks, and every Saturday includes jerseys and bobbleheads.  The Lancaster JetHawks are minor league baseball Class A Advanced affiliate. City Of Santa Clarita “Let’s Go To The Beach”

Where:  various locations throughout Santa Clarita
Details:  Grab your towel and sunscreen and had out to Santa Monica Beach, the easy way.  The City of Santa Clarita is again offering rides on air-conditioned commuter express buses.  Travelers can bring their beach chair, coolers and even surfboards.  Summer Beach Bus fares are $3 each way for children and adults, and $1.50 each way for Seniors and persons with disabilities.  Exact cash fares or TAP stored value only – no monthly passes accepted.  Those under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult.  Unaccompanied minors must bring valid school identification.  More information on routes and pickup locations, RSVP for large groups, bus etiquette, and more is available by calling 661-294-1BUS or online

Ekata Training CenterEkata Training Center

Details:  Ekata’s mission is to fuse ancient tradition with science and technology.  Ekata is a family experience.  There are programs for Little Pandas ages 3-5 years, through the 13-16 teen Bridge Program, to Adult Curriculum.  At Ekata, it isn’t all about the workout, but also about massage, acupuncture, physical therapy, and nutrition and herbology.  There is even a childcare center that takes care of the little ones while Mom gets a massage, takes a yoga class, or just sits down to have a hot tea and read a magazine.  More information is available by calling 661-255-1114 or online.

Ice Station Valencia “Summer Camp”Ice Station Valencia

Details:  Ice Station Valencia has “Kidtastic Summer Camp, the coolest camp in town.”  Campers can attend full-day, half-day morning, and half-day afternoon sessions.  They will participate in fun and age appropriate crafts and games, with special events including Play In Snow and Broomball.  They will also get an introduction to Broomball, Speed Skating, Curling, and Hockey.  Every Friday, campers participate in the Ice Station Valencia Winter Olympic Games with fun relays and contests.  For an ice skating outing, consider the KHTS Restaurant Row program for half-price admission certificates.   Certificates are available online or at KTHS, 27225 CampPlenty, Ste 8 – at SoledadCanyon.     More information is available by calling 661-755-8686 or online.

MB2 Raceway

Where:  MB2 Raceway. 13943 Balboa Boulevard, Sylmar
Details:  MB2 Raceway is high speed indoor kart racing on a ¼ mile road course.  MB2 also has junior karts for kids.  Kids must be at least 48” tall to race.  Consider the KHTS Restaurant Row program for half-price admission certificates.   Certificates are available online or at KTHS, 27225 Camp Plenty, Ste 8 – at Soledad Canyon.

Santa Clarita Lanes “Youth Summer Bowling”

Waller’s Gym Jam “Summer Day Camps”

Santa Clarita Valley Search & Rescue “Informational & Recruitment Event”
When:  Thursday, August 7 from 5:50pm-8pm
Where:  Old Town Newhall Library, Community Room
Details:  Santa Clarita Valley Search & Rescue is holding an “Informational & Recruitment” event.  If you are interested in learning about the team or joining this elite group of volunteers, this informational event will answer all your questions.  The SCV Search & Rescue team assists the Sheriff’s Department in missing persons or injured/stranded hikers, cars over the side of the highway, persons stranded by swift water, snow and ice rescue, and lost skiers and avalanche recovery, to name a few.  Learn more by calling the Reserve Coordinator at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121 or online

SCV Senior Center “Country Western Hoedown Concert”

Summer Movies At Hart Park

Where:  William S. Hart Regional Park, 24151 Newhall Avenue, Newhall
Details:  Summer Movies at HartPark are back.  This week’s movie is “The Nut Job.”  This family free event is outdoor movie fun.  Bring your blankets, pillows and lawn chairs.  There will be pre-movie music, entertainment, and games.  Unleashed animals, smoking, and alcohol are prohibited in the park at all times.  The last movie in the series: The Wizard of Oz (1939 re-mastered) – August 22.  The movies are held by The County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation, in cooperation with The Friends of Hart Park.

Run To The Pines Car Show 2014
When:  Saturday, August 9 beginning at 9am-4pm
Where:  Pine Mountain Village Center, 16225 Askin Drive, Frazier Park – see directions on website
Details:   The 17th Annual “Run To The Pines Car Show” has the perfect way to beat the heat while having a family friendly good time.  The car show will feature: British classics, Triumphs, Mustangs, Corvettes, 4x4s, rat rods, and motorcycles.  Categories include antiques, street rods, and classics.  Enjoy food, fun, and live music by “Yesteryear.”  Pine Mountain Village Center is 20 miles west of Interstate 5 at the Frazier Park exit.  Admission and parking are free.  More information and directions are available by calling 242-2298 or 242-1996 or online.  

Center Of The World – COW Festival
When: Friday, August 15 from 7:30pm-10pm; Saturday, August 16 from 1:30pm-7:30pm; Sunday, August 17 from 1pm-5pm
Where:  Pine Mountain Village, I-5 north, exit Frazier Park/Mt Pinos, signs will be posted; see website for actual directions
Details:  The 6th Annual Center of the World COW Festival will again be offering “celebration and competition” with folklore storytelling, short plays, and live music.  Friday brings the Opening Ceremonies, story-tellers, nature enthusiasts and others “bringing Native American legends, folklore, and info on local ecology and points of interest.”  Saturday is the Playwright Competition.  Sunday is Music, Songwriting Competition, Awards, and Closing Ceremonies.  In addition there will be guided nature walks on local trails.  More information, directions, and schedule are available online

Circle Of Hope “Vine 2 Wine” 
When:  Saturday, August 16 from 6:30-10:30pm
Where:  California Institute of the Arts, 24700 McBean Parkway, Valencia

Saugus High Class of 2004 Reunion
