Valencia Jazz And Blues Concert Series  Valencia Jazz And Blues Concert Series - The Delgado Brothers

When:   Friday, June 27 from 7-9:30pm
Where:  On Town Center Drive (at McBean Parkway) next to the Hyatt Regency Valencia

Triumph Foundation “Curling Clinic” 

When:  Saturday, June 28 from 7:30-9:30pm
Where:  Ice Station Valencia, 27745 Smyth Drive, Valencia – across from Valencia High School
Details:  Triumph Foundation is partnering with Hollywood Curling to host a special clinic on the sport of curling at Ice Station Valencia.  This event is free and geared towards wheelchair athletes.  Patrick McDonald, a two-time Paralympic Curling athlete will be teaching the clinic.  You’ve seen it on TV. and you know you want to try it.  No experience necessary.  There is room for 40 wheelchair users to participate.  Wheelchair Curling is an internationally recognized sport, and competitive play is governed by the World Curling Federation.  Register online.  More information on the clinic, dress, registration are available by emailing Dwight@hollywoodcurling.org or Andrew@triumph-foundation.org, or online.     Learn more about the Triumph Foundation online.

Canyon Theatre Guild Presents Singing In The RainCanyon Theatre Guild
 “Singing In The Rain”

Summer Movies At Hart Park

When:  Friday, June 27 at 7pm
Where:  William S. Hart Regional Park, 24151 Newhall Avenue, Newhall
Details:  Summer Movies at HartPark will be starting again this weekend.  The first movie of the series is “Frozen.”  This family free event is outdoor movie fun.  Bring your blankets, pillows and lawn chairs.  There will be pre-movie music, entertainment, and games.  Unleashed animals, smoking, and alcohol are prohibited in the park at all times.  Other movies in the series: Muppets Most Wanted – July 11; Despicable Me 2 – July 25; The Nut Job – August 8; and finally The Wizard of Oz (1939 re-mastered) – August 22.  The movies are held by The County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation, in cooperation with The Friends of Hart Park.

Where: JetHawks stadium “The Hanger”,  45116 Valley Central Way, Lancaster
Details:  The Lancaster JetHawks have started their quest for another California League Title and they want us to be part of the fun.  Friday night home games include fireworks, and every Saturday includes jerseys and bobbleheads.  The Lancaster JetHawks are minor league baseball Class A Advanced affiliate. City Of Santa Clarita “Let’s Go To The Beach”

When:  Starts Saturday, June 7 and runs through Sunday, August 31
Where:  various locations throughout Santa Clarita
Details:  Grab your towel and sunscreen and head out to Santa Monica Beach, the easy way.  The City of Santa Clarita is again offering rides on air-conditioned commuter express buses.  Travelers can bring their beach chair, coolers and even surfboards.  Summer Beach Bus fares are $3 each way for children and adults, and $1.50 each way for Seniors and persons with disabilities.  Exact cash fares or TAP stored value only – no monthly passes accepted.  Those under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult.  Unaccompanied minors must bring valid school identification.  More information on routes and pickup locations, RSVP for large groups, bus etiquette, and more is available by calling 661-294-1BUS or online

Santa Clarita Amateur Radio Club “Field Day 2014”

When:  Saturday, June 28 starting at 11am through Sunday, June 29 at 11am
Where:  Castaic Lake Water Agency above Central Park, 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road, Saugus

Wounded Warriors Car Wash

Details:  Support our Wounded Warriors at a Car Wash fundraiser.  All donations will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.  Get your car washed in the parking lot of the hotel.

Canyon Theatre Guild “Summer Youth Workshops”

Details:  Canyon Theatre Guild offers Summer Youth Workshops.  These workshops are perfect in a variety of ways to suit almost all kids.  Previous acting experience is not necessary.  The workshops are about learning and group cooperation while having fun, and making and meeting new friends.  Kids will learn from professionals and put on a show on a real stage. More information on each workshop, play information, and pricing are available by calling 661-799-2702 or online.  

CTG Kids is for ages 6-10.  
The CTG Kids will work on “Super Heroes & Social Smarts, or How to Interact with Human Beings.” 
Workshops run: 
Session 1 – June 23 – July 3

Session 3 – July 21 – August 2.  
All CTG Kids sessions meet Monday through Friday from 9am-noon. 

CTG Juniors is for ages 10-13.  
The CTG Juniors will work on “The Magical Land of Oz.”
Workshops run:

Session 2 – July 14 – August 2
Both sessions meet Monday through Friday from 12:30pm-4:30pm.
These workshops are limited to 25 students.

CTG Stars is for ages 13-17.  
The CTG Stars will work on “Disney’s Aladdin, Jr.”
Workshop runs:  June 9 – July 11
Public performances (2-4) on: July 11 and July 13
The workshop is limited to 30 students.  

Ekata Training CenterEkata Training Center

Details:  Ekata’s mission is to fuse ancient tradition with science and technology.  Ekata is a family experience.  There are programs for Little Pandas ages 3-5 years, through the 13-16 teen Bridge Program, to Adult Curriculum.  At Ekata, it isn’t all about the workout, but also about massage, acupuncture, physical therapy, and nutrition and herbology.  There is even a childcare center that takes care of the little ones while Mom gets a massage, takes a yoga class, or just sits down to have a hot tea and read a magazine.  More information is available by calling 661-255-1114 or online.

Ice Station Valencia “Summer Camp”

Where:  Ice Station Valencia, 27745 North Smyth Drive, across from Valencia High School
Details:  Ice Station Valencia has “Kidtastic Summer Camp, the coolest camp in town.”  Campers can attend full-day, half-day morning, and half-day afternoon sessions.  They will participate in fun and age appropriate crafts and games, with special events including Play In Snow and Broomball.  They will also get an introduction to Broomball, Speed Skating, Curling, and Hockey.  Every Friday, campers participate in the Ice Station Valencia Winter Olympic Games with fun relays and contests.  For an ice skating outing, consider the KHTS Restaurant Row program for half-price admission certificates.   Certificates are available online or at KTHS, 27225 CampPlenty, Ste 8 – at SoledadCanyon.     More information is available by calling 661-755-8686 or online.

MB2 Raceway

Where:  MB2 Raceway. 13943 Balboa Boulevard, Sylmar
Details:  MB2 Raceway is high speed indoor kart racing on a ¼ mile road course.  MB2 also has junior karts for kids.  Kids must be at least 48” tall to race.  Consider the KHTS Restaurant Row program for half-price admission certificates.   Certificates are available online or at KTHS, 27225 Camp Plenty, Ste 8 – at Soledad Canyon.

Valencia United Methodist Church “Vacation Bible School”

Country Showdown 2014 

When:  Saturday, July 19 at Concert In The Park
Where:  Central Park, 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road, Saugus
Details:  The first local round of the 33rd Annual Country Showdown 2014 has pared the field down to three competitors.   Local radio stations, like KHTS AM-1220, throughout the United States give upcoming artists a way to win the Country Showdown.  Country Showdown is a series of competitions on several levels:  Local, State, Regional, and National.   The first-round of local competition at Keyboard Galleria saw three local bands move ahead from the original pack of 11 entries.      The top three are: Marie Wise-Hawkins, Annie Brody’s, and J’Rose.  The final-round of local competition takes place at the City of Santa Clarita’s Concerts In The Park.  Read more about the first-round competition in an article on the KHTS website: Santa Clarita Bands To Move On To Second Round Of Country Showdown.     In 2012, Poor Man’s Poison won the National competition and the band was a KHTS contestant.  In 2013, Suzanne Harper was a National competitor and was a KHTS contestant. More information is available by calling KHTS at 661-298-1220 or online

Santa Clarita 4th of July ParadeSanta Clarita’s 4th Of July Parade

Details:  The more Santa Clarita grows the more the 4th of July Parade brings us together with small hometown feeling.  The Independence Day 5K, 10K, Kid’s K, and Non-Competitive Walk .  The 10K starts at 7am.  The 5K Race and Walk starts at 8am.  The Kids K starts at 7:45am.  The meeting point is Newhall Memorial Park, 24933 Newhall Avenue.  More information, race route, registration, pre-race pickup registration is available online.  Proceeds benefit SCV High School Cross Country Teams and other local charities.  Next on the list for the 4th of July is Pancake Breakfast starting at pre-parade time of 6:30-9:30am at the Roger Dunn parking lot on Main Street.  Breakfast tickets are $4 per person.  Next on the list is the Santa Clarita 4th of July Parade starting at 9am.  Jim Ventress of the SCV Boys & Girls Club will be Grand Marshal.  This year’s theme is Our Heroes: We Can Because They Do.  There are many categories for the parade, expect to see horses, floats, bands, fire trucks, kids and more kids, cars, military, and more, much more.  More information on the parade, including parade route, street closures, and frequently asked questions are available online.     After your family celebrates and barbeques, finish the day with the City of Santa Clarita Fourth of July Fireworks Show starting at 9:15pm at the Westfield Valencia Town Center.  KHTS AM-1220 will be doing a live simulcast of complimentary patriotic soundtrack.  More information, including best viewing and parking areas, is available online.  Read more in an article on KHTS website: City Of Santa Clarita Announced 4th Of July Events Lineup. 

City Of Santa Clarita “Concerts In The Park”

When:  begins July 12 through August 30, concerts begin at 7pm
Where:  Central Park, 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road, Saugus
Details:  The City of Santa Clarita is celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Concerts in the Park.  Concerts in the Park is a free concert series that invites family, friends and neighbors to join in the fun.  Read more in an article on the KHTS website: Santa Clarita Concerts In The Park Is Gearing Up For A Great Summer.  First, on the concert schedule is DSB-America’s Favorite Tribute to Journey.  “They have captured the lush signature sound of renowned vocalist Steve Perry and Journey in their prime.”  More information including the top questions asked is available online.  

The Church On The Way Santa Clarita “Soakfest 2014”

When:  Friday, July 4 from 4-7pm
Where:  The Church On The Way Santa Clarita, 23415 Cinema Drive-between Valencia Blvd and Bouquet
Details:  The Church On The Way Santa Clarita is holding “Soakfest 2014.”  This epic water war will have something for everyone: free food, age specific water balloon fights, and a giant water slide.  For those that won’t care to get wet, there will be a “Dry Zone.”  This is a free event and everyone is invited.  More information and registration are available by calling 661-291-6000 or online.   

Citrus Classic Balloon Festival

When:  Friday, July 25 from 6pm-11pm and Saturday, July 26 from 6:30am-11pm

Details:  The 7th Annual Citrus Classic Balloon Festival gives us over 30 hot air balloons and fun activities for all ages.  The Festival includes: tethered balloon rides, free train rides, skydivers & stunt planes, Evening Balloon Glows, Sunset Wine Dinner,  Craft Beer Dinner, car show, live entertainment, AfterGlow Party, Tasting Pavilions, and more. Circle Of Hope “Vine 2 Wine” 

When:  Saturday, August 16 from 6:30-10:30pm
Where:  California Institute of the Arts, 24700 McBean Parkway, Valencia
