Santa Clarita Ballet Presents Snow White

Santa Clarita Ballet “Snow White” 

When:  Saturday, June 7 at 2pm and 7:30pm

College Of The Canyons “Women’s Conference”

Where:  College of the Canyons Valencia Campus, Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Valencia

Thunder On The Lot

When:  Saturday, June 7 gates open at 2pm; Sunday, June 8 gates open at 10amThunder On The Lot Where:  Antelope Valley Fairgrounds, 2551 W Avenue H, Lancaster
Details:  Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Thunder On The Lot.  Featured performances on Saturday are Count’s 77 and Bullfrogg Blues.  Saturday’s activities include drifting races, mud bogging, stunt riders, burn-out contest, and Motorcycle & Car Shows.  Also, on Saturday, there will be a Kids Area, Carnival, food vendors, full bar cantina, and vendors.  Admission on Saturday is $10 (children under 12 are free).  Sunday’s featured performances are L.A. Cast of Beatlemania and Vagrant X.  Sunday’s activities include drifting races, mud bogging, stunt riders, poker run, and Motorcycle & Car Shows.  Sunday, there will be a Kids Area, Carnival, food vendors, full bar cantina, and vendors.  Admission on Sunday is free.  All proceeds benefit kid’s charities.  More information on Thunder On The Lot, tickets, entertainment line up, and more is available online.

Valencia United Methodist “Jailhouse Rock”

When:  Sunday, June 8 at 9am, 10:30am
Where:  Valencia United Methodist Church, 25718 McBean Parkway, Valencia – across from Henry Mayo Hospital
Details:  Valencia United Methodist Church believes that we can learn a lot from our kids.  The children’s choir will present “Jailhouse Rock,” a musical that teaches us about love, grace and freedom in Christ.  More information is available online.  

Canyon Theatre Guild “Singing In The Rain”

Boys & Girls Club “When In Rome”

Where:  Boys & Girls Club, 27460 Avenue Scott, Valencia
Details:  The Boys & Girls Club Benefit Auction “When in Rome” is their premier fundraising event.  The theme “When in Rome” will mean getting decked out in togas with your best ancient Roman inspired accessories.  There will be more than 40 live auction items and hundreds of bid board items.  Some of the auction items: 14-day Hawaiian vacation, Lasik eye surgery, One Direction concert tickets, Justin Timberlake concert tickets, Cher concert tickets, dodger Dugout Club tickets, and more.  In addition to the auctions, the evening features dinner, a full bar and live entertainment.  The benefit auction benefits the Boys & Girls Club.  More information and tickets are available by calling 661-254-3063 or online.

Details:  Clean out your garage and closets for donation to a free E-Waste Collection.  Proceeds benefit Crown Valley Colts Football.  Time to dispose of your old microwaves, computers, printers, TVs, cell phones, and other electronics.  More information is available online.  

Santa Clarita Elks “Car Show, Chili Cook-Off & Boutique”

When:  Saturday, June 7 from 11am-8pm
Where:  Santa Clarita Elks Lodge, 17766 Sierra Highway, Canyon Country
Details:  Everyone is invited to the Santa Clarita Elks ‘Car Show, Chili Cook-Off & Boutique” extravaganza.  This will be a family fun event. The car show and chili-cook off will be crowd pleasers.  The Carnival will feature a balloonist, face painting, games, prizes, popcorn, and cotton candy.  There will be hot dogs, chips and soda meals, barbeque tri-tip sandwiches, and a Bake Sale area. City Of Santa Clarita “Let’s Go To The Beach”

When:  Starts Saturday, June 7 and runs through Sunday, August 31
Where:  various locations throughout Santa Clarita
Details:  Grab your towel and sunscreen and had out to Santa MonicaBeach, the easy way.  The City of Santa Clarita is again offering rides on air-conditioned commuter express buses.  Travelers can bring their beach chair, coolers and even surfboards.  Summer Beach Bus fares are $3 each way for children and adults, and $1.50 each way for Seniors and persons with disabilities.  Exact cash fares or TAP stored value only – no monthly passes accepted.  Those under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult.  Unaccompanied minors must bring valid school identification.  More information on routes and pickup locations, RSVP for large groups, bus etiquette, and more is available by calling 661-294-1BUS or online

City Of Santa Clarita “Art SLAM”

When: Thursday, June 5 from 7-10pm
Where:  Main Street, between Market Street and 6th Street, in Old Town Newhall
Details:  The City of Santa Clarita hosts “Art SLAM” every first Thursdays of the month.  “See the work of artists’ as they respond to a theme; develop interactive opportunities, large installations of art work, and gallery exhibits.”  The evening of art includes artists, photographers, models, designers, and musicians.  The culinary art will be well represented.  This month’s theme is “Garlic.”  Read more in an article on the KHTS website: Art SLAM Highlights Culinary Art With Garlic Theme.  More information is available online.  

Ranch Camulos “Ramblings At The Rancho”

When:  Saturday, June 7 starting at noon
Where:  Rancho Camulos on Highway 126, 10 miles west of the I-5
Details:  Rancho Camulos is holding “Ramblings at the Rancho” as part of their Rancho Camulos Museum music and presentation series.  The presentation will focus on summer rose care and maintenance.  After the presentation there will be discussion about the heritage roses growing at the Rancho, and a tour of the rose gardens.  The gardens are at their peak.  Bring a picnic basket and blanket and enjoy the Rancho.  The suggested donation is $5 and includes a docent led tour.  Tours will run at 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm.  Learn more about Rancho Camulos Museum online.   

Vibe Performing Arts Studios Karaoke Coaching & Open Mic Jam

When:  Friday, June 6 from 6:30-9:30pm
Where:  Vibe Performing Arts Studios, 24460-1/4 Lyons Avenue, Santa Clarita (near the 5 Freeway)

Providence Holy Cross-Trauma Center 30th Anniversary

Details:  Providence Holy Cross Medical Center invite everyone to join in on a 30th Anniversary Celebration of their Trauma Program.  This special and unique event will open your eyes and hearts to the lifesaving work that happens each and every day within the Providence Holy Cross hospital emergency and trauma programs.  There will be a special 20-minute live demonstration with the emergency and trauma teams alongside computer-controlled, state-of-the-art manikins used today to train Providence doctors and nurses in life-saving procedures and protocols when time is critical.  More information and registration is available online.   

 

City Of Santa Clarita “Camp Out”

Country Showdown – 33rd Annual

When:  deadline, Tuesday, June 17 at 5pm
Where: KHTS AM-1220, 27225 Camp Plenty Road, Suite 8, Canyon Country – Camp Plenty at Soledad Canyon
Details:  Enter the 33rd Annual Country Showdown with KHTS AM-1220.  Local radio stations throughout the United States give upcoming artists a way to win the Country Showdown.  Garth Brooks, Martina McBride, LeAnn Rimes, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert and Brad Paisley are a few of the many talented performers that have competed in Country Showdown.  There is a Grand Prize of $100,000 and cash prizes at various levels.  Country Showdown is the biggest competition in country music. Enter by coming into the KHTS studios for an application form or online.  Country Showdown is a series of competitions on several levels:  Local, State, Regional, and National.  In 2012, Poor Man’s Poison won the National competition and the band was a KHTS contestant.  In 2013, Suzanne Harper was a National competitor and was a KHTS contestant.  Read more on the KHTS website:  Poor Man’s Poison Wins Texaco Country Showdown In Nashville and Texaco Country Showdown Winner Crystal Yates Named At Thursday’s Final.  The KHTS local competition involves a semi-final that pares down the field to three competitors.  The final local competition happens at the City of Santa Clarita’s Concerts In The Park.  More information is available by calling KHTS at 661-298-1220 or online.

Canyon Theatre Guild “Summer Youth Workshops”

Where:  Canyon Theatre Guild, 21242 Main Street, Old Town Newhall
Details:  Canyon Theatre Guild offers Summer Youth Workshops.  These workshops are perfect in a variety of ways to suit almost all kids.  Previous acting experience is not necessary.  The workshops are about learning and group cooperation while having fun, and making and meeting new friends.  Kids will learn from professionals and put on a show on a real stage. More information on each workshop, play information, and pricing are available by calling 661-799-2702 or online.  

CTG Kids is for ages 6-10.  
The CTG Kids will work on “Super Heroes & Social Smarts, or How to Interact with Human Beings.” 
Workshops run:

Session 3 – July 21 – August 2.  
All CTG Kids sessions meet Monday through Friday from 9am-noon. 

CTG Juniors is for ages 10-13.  
The CTG Juniors will work on “The Magical Land of Oz.”
Workshops run:
Session 1 – June 23 – July 11
Session 2 – July 14 – August 2
Both sessions meet Monday through Friday from 12:30pm-4:30pm.
These workshops are limited to 25 students.

CTG Stars is for ages 13-17.  
The CTG Stars will work on “Disney’s Aladdin, Jr.”
Workshop runs:  June 9 – July 11
Public performances (2-4) on: July 11 and July 13
The workshop is limited to 30 students.  

SCV Senior CenterTouch-A-Truck

When:  Saturday, June 14 from 10am-2:30pm
Where:  Central Park, 27150 Bouquet Canyon Park, Saugus

Saugus High Class of 2004 Reunion
